As the usage of social media among teenagers grows, it is displacing time spent on other activities. Reading books, magazines, and newspaper are being displaced by social media. The use of modern technologies is detracting from face-to-face interactions. Participants who had their smartphones, face down at the table during a meal with a friend or family member reported lower levels of satisfaction, connectivity, and boredom, as well as increased levels of distraction and boredom.

The greatest approach to avoid internet addiction is to manage your time. Let us set aside time for ourselves, our friends, and our families without the use of internet. Because internet isn't the only thing that revolves around our life, we need find other ways to pass the time. Young people should avoid wasting time on social networking sites in order to avoid affecting their academic performance; instead, they should make wise use of the positive effects of internet. More public awareness and educational campaigns emphasizing the importance of safe social networking site use are required. It is critical for consumers to understand how to handle their online data.
