A Glimpse to the New Pillar Standing for SJES

On April 2023, Dr. Lucila G. Artuyo stands as a new pillar for SJES. She turns to SJES carrying tranquility, empathy, and hope that gives strength to its foundation.

Dr. Artuyo began her dreams of teaching. She eyed teacher center institutions and has chosen Philippine Normal University to craft her skills and mold her to be a mentor. She finished her Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies degree in 1984.

Right after graduation, Dr. Artuyo served as a mentor. She began teaching in the Division of Quezon City. After a year, she was assigned to San Juan National High School and spent 28 years teaching. She took and passed the Principal’s Test in 2010 for career development.

Holding this credential, Dr. Artuyo became the assistant principal of San Juan National High School and a part of the interim administration of the Division of San Juan City. She performed the duty as the Division Coordinator in Araling Panlipunan.

When Dr. Rowena A. Cacanindin lead the Division of San Juan, the opportunity of becoming a principal approached Dr. Artuyo. Coincidentally, she was assigned to Sta. Lucia Elementary School – which closely resembles her name. She was assigned to other schools, and now, she stands for San Juan Elementary School.

Dr. Artuyo accepts all challenges that come her way. In fact, she has been given an opportunity to be reassigned to San Juan National High School - but opted for another school. “Opportunity is a way to make you do more,” she stated. Moreover, she pointed out that some people have already achieved the goal they have set, but that does not mean that it is over. “When you want to do something, come out and pursue it. Eventually, you will set new goals and dream to move forward,” she encouragingly said.

Becoming a school head is the most fulfilling goal she has achieved, yet, she still has goals to meet - for SJES. She plans to end her career in this school, with the view that the school continuously stands sturdily. Adding to that, she is also looking for the school to have an excellent journalism team and adapt to the changes as an integrated school.

While fulfilling the duties of a school head, Dr. Artuyo desires to express this in a “motherly” manner. She tries her best to bring tranquility, empathy, and hope to the SJES family. She makes sure that everything is running smoothly and peacefully. You can always reach her anytime, and even if she is not around, you know where to find her, just like our true mother.
