SAN JOSE, ANTIQUE โ Marking a significant milestone in the second semester of the academic year, the BSN Level 4 students of St. Anthonyโs College (SAC) demonstrated their readiness for the professional stage by successfully spearheading a two-day intensive seminar series. Held on April 10 and 11, 2026, at the Old NAL Room, MHM Building, the event served as a critical capstone for the graduating class.
The first day of the summit, Friday, April 10, focused on the transition from student to professional leader. The morning session featured Mr. Lord Leomer B. Pomperada, Former Global President of the World Youth Alliance, who delivered a stirring keynote on innovative leadership. Pomperada challenged the students to integrate a global perspective into their practice, emphasizing that service is the core of any leadership role.
The afternoon session pivoted to the practicalities of healthcare management with Dr. Judy Ann M. Nebit. Her lecture, "Nursing Leadership in the Real World," focused on the triad of patient safety, teamwork, and clinical decision-making. Dr. Nebit underscored that for a future Registered Nurse, effective management is as vital as clinical skill in ensuring positive patient outcomes.
The momentum continued into Saturday, April 11, with a rigorous focus on acute care and specialized clinical practice. Dr. Emily Jean M. Pedreso, RN, MD, DPCP, opened the morning with "Ward Emergencies: The First Responderโs Guide for Nurses." Drawing from her unique experience as both a nurse and a physician, Dr. Pedreso provided a high-intensity review of emergency protocols, highlighting the nurseโs role as the primary line of defense in the hospital ward.
The seminar concluded with an afternoon session led by Dr. Martin Federic M. Palco, Head of Facility at Palco Medical and Diagnostic Center. His lecture, "Advancing Patient Care: Clinical Care for Excellence in Internal Medicine," equipped the seniors with advanced insights into internal medicine, bridging the gap between basic nursing care and specialized clinical excellence.
Organized by the BSN 4 Nursing Students, the event was a masterclass in student agency and professional coordination. Beyond the lectures, the seminar tested the students' abilities to manage logistics, coordinate with medical experts, and facilitate professional development for their peers.
As these students prepare for their upcoming graduation and licensure examinations, this seminar serves as a reminder that the "SAC Nursing Brand" is defined by more than just clinical dutyโit is defined by a commitment to lead, a capacity to manage, and a heart to serve.

SONGKHLA, THAILAND - The SAC Nursing Department solidified its presence on the international stage during the 3๐๐
๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐จ๐บ๐ฌ๐จ๐ต ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ (๐ฐ๐ช๐จ๐บ๐ซ 2026) held on April 2, 2026 hosted by the International College - Thaksin University. Embracing the theme "๐๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ท๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ท๐ฆ & ๐๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ช๐ข๐ต๐ฆ ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ข๐ช๐ฏ๐ข๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ช๐จ๐ช๐ต๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ณ๐ข," the department showcased a hybrid of academic leadership and student innovation through both on-site and virtual presentations.
Leading the SAC delegation in person was Fr. Mario M. Dimapilis, MHM, MPH, RN, who traveled to Thailand to present his scholarly work. His research, titled "Optimizing Supervision Practices among Nurse Educators in a Faith-Based Educational Institution: An Autoethnography (CHASE Model)," offered a deep dive into spiritual and professional mentorship within nursing education.
While Fr. Dimapilis represented the faculty in Thailand, the BSN Level 4 students demonstrated the power of the "Digital Era" by participating virtually. Spanning multiple online sessions, these student-researchers presented a wide array of studies addressing critical health and social issues in the province of Antique and beyond.
The virtual presentations covered diverse thematic areas, including:
Public Health & Prevention: Studies on rabies prevention (Esporsado et al.), leptospirosis awareness (Dalumpines et al.), and indigenous climate responses (Tuason et al.).
Clinical Care & Chronic Illness: Research on spiritual well-being in hemodialysis (Centino et al.), and the attitude toward death among middle-aged clients with chronic illnesses (Anteza et al.).
Mental Health & Social Advocacy: Investigations into the lived experiences of individuals with bipolar disorder (Torres et al.), the challenges of autism caregivers (Ballarta et al.), and healthcare access for Persons Deprived of Liberty (Matillano et al.).
Nursing Education & Well-being: Analysis of impostor syndrome (Gasalao et al.), academic burnout (Ramos et al.), and nursesโ competence in evidence-based practice (Magdayao et al.).
The dual-mode participation of SAC Nursing highlights the departmentโs adaptability and its focus on relevant, sustainable healthcare research. By bridging the gap between local health issues and international discourse, SAC Nursing continues to fulfill its mission of producing globally competitive and community-oriented healthcare professionals.
Congratulations to Fr. Mario Dimapilis and the BSN 4 students for raising the Anthonian banner high in the ASEAN research community!
