The Philippine flag stands as a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, unity, and patriotism of every Filipino who fought for freedom and sovereignty. Each color, star, and ray carries the story of our nation’s struggles and triumphs through history.

Let us not only raise the flag with our hands, but also honor it through integrity, respect, and commitment to our nation.

“Watawat ng Pilipinas - Sagisag ng Kalayaan, Pagkakaisa, at Pagmamahal sa Bayan.”

Yesterday, we gathered for the 𝟭𝟮𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆, standing united in remembrance of Dr. José Rizal and his legacy of nationalism, courage, and service to the Filipino people. 🇵🇭⚜️

𝗔 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱. 🇵🇭✨

Every December 30, we honor, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗹 the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀’ 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼 and 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲, whose ideas ignited Filipino nationalism. Through his anti-colonial masterpieces 𝗡𝗼𝗹𝗶 𝗠𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗲 and 𝗘𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗼, Rizal exposed the abuses of Spanish rule and corrupt friars—calling not for violence, but for 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

Rizal was not only a novelist. He was a polymath—a 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗽𝗼𝗲𝘁, 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝘀𝘁, 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻, 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝘁, 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁. He believed that 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺, famously saying that 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. His writings, letters, and essays inspired the Propaganda Movement and later fueled the courage of revolutionaries who fought for independence.

On 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬, 𝟭𝟴𝟵𝟲, at just 𝟯𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱, he was executed by firing squad in 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 (𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 ). Though unarmed, his ideas lived on, uniting Filipinos and strengthening the call for 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Today, we honor Rizal, we commemorate 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝟭𝟮𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 not only for how he died, but for how he lived—with intellect, integrity, and an unyielding love for country. His legacy reminds us that the 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱, and that 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲.
