The CDSGA-School of Graduate Studies is pleased to inform all students and stakeholders that the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has approved the change in degree nomenclature for our graduate programs in Counseling, effective Academic Year 2026–2027.

The approved changes are as follows:

Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling (Thesis Track)
→ Master of Arts in Counseling (Academic Track)

Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling (Non-Thesis Track)
→ Master in Counseling (Professional Track)

These changes reflect current standards in counseling education and clearly distinguish the academic and professional pathways of the programs. The curriculum, program objectives, and commitment to quality counselor preparation remain aligned with national and professional expectations.

Both the Academic Track and Professional Track are designed to meet the academic requirements for eligibility to take the Licensure Examination for Guidance Counselors, subject to prevailing regulations and requirements of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Guidance and Counseling.
