Angel House Orphanage Philippines

It was a very busy week with lots of visitors and activities taking place. Last Thursday we collected relatives of our director who travelled all the way from Scotland to visit Angel House. On Friday morning they went walking with the toddlers to the playground and in the afternoon, they met all our schoolchildren. On Saturday we all went to the beach, and everyone enjoyed playing in the ocean or on the sand. We had a delicious lunch and returned to Angel House tired, but happy.
Three of the family left on Saturday evening, but their daughter, Shana, will be staying for another week to help take care of the kids in Angel House.

Another busy week with school and activities in Angel House. A favorite toy for kids of all ages around the world must be plastic building blocks and here is a photo of the children showing off their construction skills. It is such a great toy as it involves imagination, manipulation, identifying colors and most importantly, sharing!

All our kids are doing well and happy attending school or playing in Angel House, we are lucky to have such a large garden with swings, slides and plenty of trees to climb! Right now our mango tree is producing a lot of fruit, though they never fully develop as the kids will pick the green mangoes to eat; they are very sour!

Our two community outreach programs continue to provide valuable support for many families with our feeding program that gives twenty vulnerable families a monthly sack of rice, and our educational support program that provides fifty students with the opportunity to attend school. A big Thanks to the ‘Two Dads and Three Girls Foundation’ that provides financial support for both of these life changing programs.

There has been some stormy weather recently with Angel House catching the outer edge of the super typhoon that came close to the Philippines. Thankfully, the children could still go to school and so there was minimal disruption to our daily routine. PHOTO: Waking up from my dreams.

A happy welcome to our latest arrival in Angel House, this newborn baby boy came directly from the hospital last Saturday. He was a healthy 2.9 kg (6.4 lbs) and we will give him the loving care that he needs. Our other children were excited to meet him and observe his tiny features.

We brought all our children to the beach last Saturday and everyone enjoyed splashing in the warm tropical ocean or playing on the sand. After an energizing snack we were ready to walk to the pier and many of the kids launched themselves into the water below. It was low tide and a ten-foot drop to the sea, so it took some courage to take the leap, but even our five-year-olds managed to do it.

Day care classes will begin today, and our two children are very excited to attend their morning sessions. They are all prepared with their little schoolbags and looking smart in their outfits.

It’s been a while since we celebrated a birthday at Angel House and so we were all happy to share the birthday cake and ice cream of a beautiful little girl turning seven-years-old last Saturday. She is a bright and happy girl that has been with us for almost one year, along with her younger brother.

It was an exciting day for all our elementary students as they returned to school after ten weeks of summer vacation. We are sending seven children this year, and they are all excited to see their friends and meet their new teachers, though the two kids attending kinder garden are a little nervous on their first morning.
