𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗘𝗱 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗚𝗩𝗛𝗦

San Gabriel, June 18, 2026 – Personnel from the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office conducted an on-site visit to San Gabriel Vocational High School (SGVHS) to audit, inspect, and validate the utilization of recently delivered equipment under the Science and Mathematics Equipment (SME), Technical-Vocational Education (TVE), and Technical-Vocational Livelihood (TVL) programs.

The visiting team was warmly received by the school administration headed by the School Head, Ma’am Fatima R. Nana, together with faculty members and program coordinators. A guided walkthrough of classrooms, laboratories, and workshop areas was conducted to showcase the installed equipment. The inspection centered on verifying the completeness, condition, and functionality of the materials, as well as reviewing inventory records and supporting documents to ensure compliance with DepEd standards and procurement guidelines.

During the visit, teachers and coordinators highlighted how the SME, TVE, and TVL equipment are actively integrated into classroom instruction and skills training. These resources significantly contribute to enhancing students’ practical competencies, critical thinking skills, and preparedness for real-world applications. The inspection team recognized the vital role of such equipment in promoting hands-on learning and strengthening both academic and technical-vocational programs of the school.

DepEd Central Office personnel also emphasized the importance of proper utilization, regular maintenance, and accountability in managing government-provided resources. Constructive feedback and recommendations were likewise shared to further improve program implementation and ensure sustainability.

In response, SGVHS expressed its sincere gratitude for the continued support of DepEd and reaffirmed its commitment to responsibly manage and maximize the use of these resources, ultimately benefiting the holistic development of its learners.

San Gabriel Vocational High School – Senior High School (SGVHS-SHS) hosted the ALS Senior High School Monitoring and Kumustahan on February 9, 2026, bringing together educators and program specialists to review progress and share best practices.

The program commenced with preliminaries and a roll call led by Ma’am Eden Diano, ALS-SHS Adviser, followed by opening remarks from the school principal, Ma’am Fatima R. Nana, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of collaboration in enhancing Alternative Learning System (ALS) Senior High School programs.

Keynote messages were delivered by Dr. Mario B. Paneda, EPS/Division ALS Focal Person, who provided an inspirational talk motivating teachers and staff to continuously improve and innovate in their teaching practices. Sharing practical strategies, Sir Elmer Abad, Master Teacher I, presented best practices from his experiences that could be adapted by other educators.

An Open Forum followed, where participants engaged with Dr. Mario B. Paneda, Dr. Joselito A. Pascua, and Ma’am Connie S. Lopico, Education Program Specialists, to discuss concerns, clarify processes, and exchange ideas to enhance ALS-SHS implementation.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Sir Deo L. Tarnate, Head Teacher III-OIC ASP II, who encouraged teachers to implement the insights gained and maintain open communication for continuous improvement.

The ALS Senior High School Monitoring and Kumustahan highlighted SGVHS-SHS’s commitment to excellence in education, fostering collaboration among educators, and ensuring quality learning experiences for all students.

A Grade 12 student of San Gabriel Vocational High School, Mike P. Wagayen, proudly won the Gold Medal in Automobile Technology at the 2025 Provincial Skills Competition, dubbed “Bael ti LUkal.” This achievement was guided by his coach, Sir Elmer D. Abad, whose dedication and expertise contributed to this success.

The event was organized by TESDA, in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) and ATVILU, and featured skilled learners from across the province. Mark’s exceptional technical skills and performance earned him the top honor in his category.

San Gabriel Vocational High School proudly received a Certificate of Recognition for achieving the WinS Three-Star Level, the highest rating under the WASH in Schools (WinS) Program for School Years 2021–2025. This honor was awarded during the WinS Awarding Ceremony with the theme “Reach for the Stars: Championing Healthy Schools Through WinS Excellence” held on December 5, 2025 at Hotel Ariana, Paringao, Bauang, La Union.

The award was personally received by Ma’am Arsenia D. Ordoño, the School WinS Coordinator, who represented the SGVHS community with pride and dedication.

The WinS Three-Star Rating is the highest TSA recognition, signifying full compliance with national standards on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). San Gabriel, La Union — The ARAL Program was officially launched at San Gabriel Vocational High School on September 15, 2025, bringing together parents of program participants and language teachers who will serve as tutors.

The school principal, Ma’am Fatima R. Nana, led the event with a discussion on the rationale of the program, stressing its role in addressing learning gaps and improving students’ reading skills. She highlighted the need for collaborative efforts among educators and parents to ensure the program’s success.

Following this, the ARAL Reading Coordinator, Ma’am Erlinda L. Garcia, presented the implementation plan, detailing the tutoring strategies, monitoring system, and expected outcomes. Her presentation clarified the responsibilities of both teachers and parents in supporting learners under the program.

The launch emphasized the school’s commitment to enhancing literacy and providing targeted interventions for students in need of additional academic support.

The ARAL (Advanced Reading and Learning) Program is a learning recovery initiative of the Department of Education that focuses on strengthening the reading and comprehension skills of learners. It provides remedial sessions, guided tutorials, and close monitoring to help students meet the expected literacy standards.
