A Grade 12 student of San Gabriel Vocational High School, Mike P. Wagayen, proudly won the Gold Medal in Automobile Technology at the 2025 Provincial Skills Competition, dubbed “Bael ti LUkal.” This achievement was guided by his coach, Sir Elmer D. Abad, whose dedication and expertise contributed to this success.

The event was organized by TESDA, in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) and ATVILU, and featured skilled learners from across the province. Mark’s exceptional technical skills and performance earned him the top honor in his category.

San Gabriel Vocational High School proudly received a Certificate of Recognition for achieving the WinS Three-Star Level, the highest rating under the WASH in Schools (WinS) Program for School Years 2021–2025. This honor was awarded during the WinS Awarding Ceremony with the theme “Reach for the Stars: Championing Healthy Schools Through WinS Excellence” held on December 5, 2025 at Hotel Ariana, Paringao, Bauang, La Union.

The award was personally received by Ma’am Arsenia D. Ordoño, the School WinS Coordinator, who represented the SGVHS community with pride and dedication.

The WinS Three-Star Rating is the highest TSA recognition, signifying full compliance with national standards on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). San Gabriel, La Union — The ARAL Program was officially launched at San Gabriel Vocational High School on September 15, 2025, bringing together parents of program participants and language teachers who will serve as tutors.

The school principal, Ma’am Fatima R. Nana, led the event with a discussion on the rationale of the program, stressing its role in addressing learning gaps and improving students’ reading skills. She highlighted the need for collaborative efforts among educators and parents to ensure the program’s success.

Following this, the ARAL Reading Coordinator, Ma’am Erlinda L. Garcia, presented the implementation plan, detailing the tutoring strategies, monitoring system, and expected outcomes. Her presentation clarified the responsibilities of both teachers and parents in supporting learners under the program.

The launch emphasized the school’s commitment to enhancing literacy and providing targeted interventions for students in need of additional academic support.

The ARAL (Advanced Reading and Learning) Program is a learning recovery initiative of the Department of Education that focuses on strengthening the reading and comprehension skills of learners. It provides remedial sessions, guided tutorials, and close monitoring to help students meet the expected literacy standards.

𝘚𝘢𝘯 𝘎𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘭, 𝘈𝘶𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘵 30, 2025 — In a heartwarming act of generosity and school pride, Union Bank donated brand-new sports equipment to San Gabriel Vocational School on August 30, 2025. The initiative was led by Ma'am Mary Rose Rodriguez, Union Bank Branch Manager and a proud alumna of the school.

The turnover program took place and was made more significant by the presence of Dr. Delia P. Hufalar, San Gabriel Cluster Monitoring Supervisor. In addition to assisting in the formal acceptance of the donated equipment, Dr. Hufalar also provided technical assistance and monitored the administration of the First Quarter Examination during her visit to the school.

The donated equipment includes essential materials for various sports and physical education activities, aimed at strengthening the school’s athletic programs and promoting student wellness.

The school expresses its deep appreciation to Union Bank and to Ma'am Rodriguez for the meaningful contribution. The newly acquired sports equipment is expected to enhance students’ physical development and strengthen the school’s co-curricular offerings.

With the support of various partners and stakeholders, San Gabriel Vocational School continues to pursue holistic education for its learners.

San Gabriel Vocational High School officially welcomed students back to campus on Monday, June 16, 2025, with a smooth and organized opening of classes for the new academic year. The day commenced with a flag-raising ceremony that brought together students, faculty, and staff in a show of unity and school spirit.

Following the ceremony, the school principal, Ma'am Fatima R. Nana, delivered a warm and encouraging message, highlighting the importance of hard work, discipline, and collaboration in achieving success. She also formally introduced the faculty and staff members, reaffirming the school’s commitment to providing quality education through a team of dedicated educators and personnel.

Later in the morning, at around 10:00 AM, the Senior High School Department held an orientation program to welcome the enrollees of the Alternative Learning System (ALS). The program was graced by the presence of district ALS teachers, Ma'am Lea A. Gundran and Sir Abel Licudine, who both showed and expressed their full support for the ALS learners. During the event, the ALS-SHS students were oriented on school policies, academic expectations, and the various support systems available to them.

The day’s activities set a positive tone for the school year ahead, reflecting San Gabriel Vocational High School’s readiness to serve all types of learners in a supportive and inclusive environment.

San Gabriel Vocational High School Kicks off Brigada Eskwela 2025 with a United Community Effort
June 9, 2025 – San Gabriel, Philippines

San Gabriel Vocational High School officially launched Brigada Eskwela 2025 on Monday, June 9, bringing together a wide network of stakeholders in a strong display of unity and volunteerism. With this year’s theme, “Brigada Eskwela: Sama-sama para sa Bayang Bumabasa,” the kick-off event celebrated the power of community collaboration in preparing schools and promoting literacy among the Filipino youth.

Representatives from various sectors—including the Parents and Teachers Association, students, the Local Government Unit (LGU), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), alumni, Barangay Council, and other community partners—gathered on campus to show their support. One of the highlights of the event was the signing of a pledge of commitment, where stakeholders formally expressed their dedication to supporting the week-long Brigada Eskwela activities.

The first day of Brigada Eskwela was both productive and inspiring. Volunteers engaged in essential tasks such as cleaning classrooms and school grounds, minor repairs, repainting, and organizing reading sessions (Pabasa) to promote literacy. These efforts reflect the true spirit of bayanihan—working hand-in-hand for a common purpose.

As the school year approaches, San Gabriel Vocational High School is calling on more volunteers to join and participate in the remaining Brigada Eskwela activities throughout the week. Everyone—parents, residents, private sector partners, and civic organizations—is welcome to lend their time, skills, or resources.

This esteemed recognition highlights the school’s remarkable efforts and dedication in the successful implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2024, with the theme: "Bayanihan para sa MATATAG na Paaralan." Through this initiative, the school demonstrated unwavering bayanihan spirit by fostering strong partnerships with parents, teachers, students, local government units, and various stakeholders to create a more conducive learning environment for its students.

San Gabriel Vocational High School’s participation in Brigada Eskwela 2024 showcased collaborative efforts in cleaning, repairing, and preparing school facilities to ensure a safe and functional learning space. Volunteers from different sectors generously contributed their time, skills, and resources to uplift the school community, making a significant impact on students’ educational experience.

Special recognition is given to the unwavering leadership and dedication of School Principal Ma’am Fatima R. Nana, Head Teachers Sir Deo L. Tarnate and Dr. Albert L. San Gabriel Vocational High School-Senior High School (SGVHS-SHS) welcomed esteemed education officials for an in-depth Supervision, Evaluation, and Monitoring session on February 20, 2025. The event was led by Dr. Joselito Pascua and Ma’am Connie Lopico, who conducted a comprehensive assessment of the school’s Alternative Learning System-Senior High School (ALS-SHS) program.

The supervision aimed to evaluate the implementation of ALS-SHS, ensuring that educational standards and learning objectives are met effectively. The visit included document reviews, and discussions with faculty and students to assess teaching methodologies and learner progress.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, the San Gabriel District ALS mobile teachers were also present. Their participation facilitated valuable discussions on best practices, challenges, and strategies for enhancing the ALS program. Their insights contributed to a more holistic understanding of how to further improve education delivery for ALS-SHS learners.

The visit provided a platform for dialogue, feedback, and professional growth. The evaluation will serve as a foundation for further improvements in the ALS-SHS program at SGVHS-SHS, reinforcing the school’s commitment to providing quality and accessible education to all learners. The SGVHS-SHS administration looks forward to implementing the recommendations and continuing its mission of empowering learners through the ALS-SHS program.
