Long-term Learning

“Education is the key to the long-term problems of the country. If we fix basic education, we fix the long-term problems of the country. And if we fix the country’s problems, we will build a truly strong society.”

Education, which plays such role in our society, is needed for everyone. Having the ripened knowledge benefits of having a good future. The more developed life becomes the more necessary education if for everyone. Being educated is the most important thing not only for success in one’s life, but the educated population plays an essential role in making a nation more successful.

It is said that the Philippines is the only remaining country in Asia with a 10-year pre-university program. Hence, the K-12 Basic Education Program was implemented, a program meant to bring into line the Philippines with the global 12-year basic education cycle. K-12 denotes Kindergarten and the 12 years of Elementary and Secondary Education. All the students are given individual attention and therefore they understand their subjects in a more practical way. The role of a teacher is to guide them in the right way. Adding t more years enhances the basic education curriculum, thus better education for all.

President Benigno Aquino III said that through the K-12 program, the children are getting into the best universities and the best jobs after graduation, at least giving them an even chance at succeeding.

However education has its own peaks and valleys. It may be the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world but it cannot be denied that even if the K-12 may help us, there’s always the never-ending wrath of poverty. Majority of the Filipinos are having a hard time in balancing the budget for primary needs of their families. Though families can expect better future for their children, there are still a few more struggles and withstands along the way.

Truly roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.
