𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦! | Three (3) Bachelor of Science in Criminology graduates from the College of Law and Criminal Justice Education triumphantly hurdled the August 2026 Licensure Examination for Criminologists 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀:

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗦𝗟𝗖-𝗦𝗙𝗟𝗨 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗦𝗝, 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀

Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union (SLC-SFLU) formalized a partnership with the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao during the 32nd ASEACCU Conference 2026 held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on August 19, 2026. Representing SLC-SFLU in the partnership signing was Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM, PhD, President, while USJ Macao was represented by Álvaro Manuel Mendes Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Affairs. The partnership establishes a framework for both institutions to pursue meaningful academic collaboration and expand opportunities for their respective academic communities.

The agreement provides for collaboration in several areas, including short-term academic programs, student exchange and study-abroad opportunities; joint research activities; cooperation in the development of new and existing academic programs; staff exchanges and mutual institutional visits; and joint supervision of doctoral theses. It also provides for the exchange of publications, journals, reference materials, and other outputs of teaching and research, as well as other activities that may be mutually beneficial to both institutions.

The partnership with USJ Macao opens another avenue for SLC-SFLU to broaden the international learning experiences available to its students and faculty. For the broader SLC-SFLU academic community, the partnership also represents an opportunity to strengthen the institution’s international academic networks and create pathways for collaborative teaching, research, and professional development.

As SLC-SFLU continues to expand its global partnerships, the collaboration with the University of Saint Joseph Macao reflects the institution’s continuing efforts to connect the SLC community with academic institutions beyond the Philippines and to create meaningful opportunities that support its students, faculty, and institutional partners.

SLC-SFLU reaffirmed and further strengthened its institutional commitment to internationalization through its active participation in the 32nd ASEACCU Conference 2026, held on August 19–21, 2026, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Carrying the theme “Education, Hope, and Human Flourishing: Fostering Intercultural Encounter and Dialogue,” the conference brought together Catholic higher education institutions from across the region and beyond to reflect on how education can foster meaningful encounters, shared understanding, and human flourishing.
Hosted by Universitas Sanata Dharma (USD) and Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY), the conference brought together leaders, faculty members, and students from Catholic Higher Education Institutions across the region for meaningful dialogue and shared learning. SLC-SFLU representatives led by President Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM, PhD, together with Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lea L. De Guzman, Director of the Global Affairs Office Dr. Leo Esteene L. Galap, and Louisian Internationalization Student Ambassadors (LISAs) Marian Angeline Valle, Rusty Jann Ayaquil, and Justin Jake Reyes participated in the activity.
The conference opened with a Eucharistic celebration at the Chapel of St. Robertus Bellarminus of USD, presided over mainly by Mgr. Antonius Subianto Bunjamin, OSC, President of the Bishops’ Conference of Indonesia. It proceeded with the opening program which was highlighted by the reading of the message of Cardinal José Tolentino, Prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Culture and Education, to the ASEACCU 2026 delegation, setting a reflective tone for the gathering.
The succeeding sessions explored critical themes surrounding human flourishing, intercultural encounter and dialogue, and the relationship among hope, education, and health. These discussions were anchored on the keynote address of Prof. Zlatko Skrbis, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and President of the Australian Catholic University, and were enriched by panel conversations featuring leaders from participating institutions.
Representing SLC-SFLU in the institutional sharing session, Fr. Villamar served as a panelist in the discussion on “Takeaways and Institutional Sharing.” He emphasized the role of internationalization as a key institutional strategy in advancing human flourishing, underscoring that global engagement is not simply about creating international opportunities, but about forming students and communities who are prepared to engage differences with openness, respect, compassion, and a strong sense of mission.
For the student delegates, the conference became an important avenue for learning beyond the classroom. They were given opportunities to interact with fellow students from participating institutions through dedicated student dialogues and presentations. These encounters allowed them to exchange perspectives, appreciate diverse cultures, and experience firsthand the value of building relationships across borders.
The participation to the conference also opened new possibilities for institutional collaboration, with SLC-SFLU forging four international partnerships during the conference. These emerging linkages further expand the College’s network for potential academic exchanges, collaborative initiatives, student and faculty mobility, research, and other internationalization activities.

𝗦𝗟𝗖-𝗦𝗙𝗟𝗨 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗘𝗔𝗣 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭 + 𝗔𝗯𝗿𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆

Reaffirming its commitment to advancing the mission of Catholic education, Saint Louis College – San Fernando, La Union joined the 2026 CEAP Regional Assembly Region 1 + Abra on August 1 at the Teatro Ilocandia, Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.

The SLC delegation was led by Rev. Fr. Rumpearl Tenkings Isaac, CICM, Vice President for Mission and Identity, along with members of the teaching and non-teaching staff.

Anchoring on the theme, “Constellations, Not Isolated Stars: Hope that Teaches, Heals, and Defends,” the assembly brought together Catholic educators from diocesan schools and Catholic academic institutions across Region 1 and Abra.

In his welcome message, Rev. Msgr. Manuel S. Bravo, Jr., CEAP Regional Trustee, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among Catholic educational institutions. He reminded participants that they form "a constellation, not isolated stars," underscoring that schools do not stand alone but are interconnected in their shared mission of shaping value-grounded students.

Also present at the event was Hon. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), who, in her message, reaffirmed the Commission's commitment to strengthening its partnership with Catholic higher education institutions across Region 1 and Abra through continued collaboration and support.

In his keynote address, Most Rev. Renato P. Mayugba, DD, discussed the importance of fostering hope among educators and students. He emphasized the crucial role of not only reading the signs of the times, but also actively engaging with them.

Dr. Dennis Prince Germano led two plenary sessions in the afternoon program. His first presentation on “Safe and Enabling Learning Environments (From Infrastructure to Psychosocial Safety),” underscored the role of schools in fostering secure and supportive learning spaces for students, particularly amid growing concerns over school violence. This was followed by his presentation on "Teacher Well-being and Retention: Addressing Burnout and Systemic Pressures Under: Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Transformation," which highlighted the challenges faced by Catholic educators and presented strategies to promote their well-being and sustain a committed teaching workforce.

Following the afternoon plenary sessions, the assembly proceeded to the presentation of newly elected regional officers. Ms. Angelica Joy C. Marzo of SLC was elected as the Committee Chairperson on Programs (JEEPGY) of the CEAP Region 1 + Abra Regional Council 2026-2029, tasked with leading the regional integration and strategic implementation of CEAP's core advocacy pillars across member schools.

The event concluded with the announcement that the Diocese of San Fernando, La Union will host the next CEAP Region 1 + Abra Annual Assembly.

Through its active participation in the assembly, SLC-SFLU reaffirmed its dedication to advancing values-centered education, equipping its delegates to return as beacons of hope, unity, and transformational leadership within and beyond the SLC community.
