MGCS - Propaedeutic Formation Year - PFY Department

LOOK: The Propadeutic Formation Year held its Initial Orientation as we gear up for the forthcoming Formation Year 2026-2027.

The gathering welcomed 12 incoming Juniors together with their parents. The 20 Seniors were also present and assisted in the event.

We were also guided by our formators who shared their valuable insights, reminders, and words of encouragement.

This orientation served as meaningful opportunity to give an overview of the values and pillars of the seminary formation, to strengthen connections within the community, and prepare everyone for a year centered on faith, growth, service, and mission.

With hearts filled with joy and gratitude, we warmly welcome our new formators in the Propaedeutic Formation Year: Rev. Fr. Jerome C. Roque—Director of Formation, and Rev. Fr. John Lu Allan M. Nucum—Spiritual Director. A new chapter of grace and growth begins in our journey of formation.

In a special way, we thank the High School community for their care and generosity in sharing Fr. John Lu with us, who faithfully served as their Prefect of Discipline. With joy, we now welcome him to our community as our Spiritual Director.

We also express our heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Kenneth Alde, our Rector, for his fatherly care and guidance throughout the past formation year.

May God, who has begun this good work in all of us, bring it to fulfillment. We are honored and grateful to journey with you.

𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐘 ⚓︎🏝️🌊

LOOK: Photos from our recent closing ceremony held last March 27, 2026 at Rama International Beach Resort, Botolan, Zambales. It was an overnight event filled with simple joys, laughter, and meaningful moments as we celebrated the journey we shared this formation year.

It also became a heartfelt send-off for our PFY Senior class, a time to thank them, honor their journey, and cherish the memories we built together.

More than anything, it reminded us of how far we have come as a community, growing together in faith, brotherhood, and purpose.

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟒 | 𝐏𝐅𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

“𝘐 𝘈𝘔” — 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘴, 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘪𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴.

As our retreat came to its close through the celebration of the Holy Mass and the sharing of final words, we realized that some moments are too sacred to be fully expressed. They are not meant to be explained, but to be carried quietly and deeply within.

This retreat was not only successful because of the sessions we attended, but because we allowed ourselves to truly enter, to reflect, to listen, and to be present. In the end, the greatest invitation was not simply to understand, but to be, to be present in every moment, aware that God is already there.

Because when we truly live in that presence, we do not just remember memories, we carry the grace and the lessons that come with them.

And as we leave this sacred space, one truth remains. Whenever we say “I am,” we are never alone, for God has always been there, the One who is, and who will always be.

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟑 | 𝐏𝐅𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

𝘛𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘴 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.

In this final session, “Kairos and Telos: Crossing the Threshold of Formation,” we were brought face to face with a deeper question: Have we truly given our full “yes” to God? And as one step ends, we are gently led to ask—what comes next?

Growth does not take away struggle; it transforms it. It deepens our capacity to endure, to reflect, and to respond with faith. And in every stage we have passed through, one truth remains—God has always been near. If He has been present in every chapter of our lives, then we can trust that He is already waiting in the next one we are about to enter.

Formation, in the end, is not about becoming the brightest or the most outstanding, but about becoming a light for others. A light that does not outshine, but accompanies. A light that strengthens not only one’s own vocation, but also the vocation of brothers walking the same path.

For our Telos—our purpose—is not fulfilled alone, but within a community. And it unfolds not in our own time, but in Kairos—God’s perfect and faithful timing.

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟐 | 𝐏𝐅𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦.

There are paths we dream of, and there are paths God gently unfolds before us. In every “what if” and “what could have been,” we begin to see that vocation is not confined to a single outcome but revealed in the kind of person we are becoming. Because in the end, the truest calling is not simply to become a priest, but to become a man of God.

On this second day, we were invited to encounter our lives through the lens of both possibility and reality—“My Vocation in Other Multiverse.” It stirred within us the question not just of what we will become, but who we are becoming in every choice we make. And in “High and Low,” we encountered the truth that life moves in sacred rhythms, where every high reveal God’s goodness, and every low refines our intentions.

What we see as delay or denial is never empty in God’s will, only a yes or a wait. For before every burden, grace is already given; before every cross, strength is already prepared.

This is the journey of formation;
from affirmation to reformation;
from self to surrender;
from calling to becoming.

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏 | 𝐏𝐅𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺—𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩, 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴. 𝘐𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦, 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩.

The Propaedeutic Formation Year began its annual retreat at the Mirador Jesuit Villa Retreat House last March 23–26, 2026. Day One marked not only our physical arrival, but a deeper interior entering—an openness to encounter God in silence, in reflection, and in one another. Guided by our speaker, Sir Jaypee S. Manlutac, we were oriented not just to the flow of the retreat, but to the deeper call of listening to God’s movements in our lives.

With the theme “Kairos at the Threshold: Encountering God in the Mystery of Endings and New Beginnings,” our first session led us into the “For-You Verse: The Word That Has Been Carrying Me.” It reminded us that every chapter of our life—whether marked by joy or uncertainty—is already held by God’s Word. In every line of our story, He speaks. In every moment of doubt, He remains.

And so, as we begin this journey, we hold on to this truth: God is with us—in endings, in beginnings, and in every step in between.
