The Diocesan Seminary of the Heart of Jesus warmly opens its doors once again to young men who desire to grow in faith, discipline, service, and academic excellence.

We are now accepting incoming Grade 7 students as well as transferees from Grades 8–11 and orientees for the incoming School and Formation Year 2026-2027.

As part of our commitment to make Catholic and seminary education more accessible to families, available ESC Subsidy slots for Junior High School, Senior High School Voucher slots and scholarship may also be availed by qualified students.

In a world filled with so many voices, and rhythms, one question remains: what is the beat that you follow? “Hawak mo ang beat” — the beat of your heart, the beat of your dreams, the beat of your response to God’s call. Every young person carries within his heart a unique rhythm placed there by God Himself. Perhaps that beat is leading you toward a deeper purpose, toward service, brotherhood, and a life centered on Christ.

The seminary is a home where hearts and minds are formed and young men are guided to discover God’s plan for their lives. Here, your beat becomes a beat for Christ, a life inspired by faith and purpose.

BUKAS-YON SEARCH-IN 2026

Last April 29–30, 2026, the Bukas-yon Search-In 2026 (Batch 2) was successfully held. Young aspirants took a meaningful step in discerning God’s call, experiencing moments of prayer, reflection, and brotherhood in our Minor Seminary.

We also thank our Batch 1 aspirants for their generous help in the preparations—your service is a true witness of fraternity.

BUKAS-YON SEARCH-IN 2026

Are you feeling called to something more? We invite young men incoming Grades 7–11 who are discerning a possible vocation to enter the minor seminary to join the Bukas-Yon Search-In 2026, happening on April 29–30, 2026.

This activity offers a 24-hour experience in the seminary where participants will engage in prayer, reflection, and community life, giving them a glimpse into the simple yet meaningful life of a seminarian. It is a unique opportunity to experience seminary life for a day and to listen more closely to God’s call in their lives.

BUKAS-YON Search In 2026 | First Batch

Sharing the glimpse of the First Batch of Bukas-Yon Search In held last March 21–22, 2026 at the Diocesan Seminary of the Heart of Jesus, San Vicente, City of San Fernando, La Union.

This batch brought together young men who are genuinely open and willing to take a step closer to seminary life for the coming formation year. Over the two days, they spent time in prayer, reflection, sharing, and simply getting to know more about the call God might be placing in their hearts.

Like the Lyrics of the song: “Kapag tumibok ang puso, wala ka nang magagawa kundi sundin ito," Perhaps this is also what these young men are gradually experiencing—the gentle stirring of the heart leading them toward the path that God is preparing for them.

Thank you to everyone who supported and made this activity possible! Please continue to pray for them as they keep discerning and listening to God’s call.

The Diocesan Seminary of the Heart of Jesus is still open for entrance examinations for the school and formation year 2026-2027. The seminary is open on weekdays and Saturday from 8am to 3pm.

40TH ANNIVERSARY OF EDSA PEOPLE POWER

The DSHJ community stands in solidarity with the nation in commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

As a seminary community, we marked this historic milestone through the celebration of the Holy Mass. After the Mass, a formation program was held to deepen our seminarians’ awareness and appreciation of People Power and its relevance today. The seminarians watched the "March of Heroes," and scenes from the film "A Dangerous Life." Through these materials, they were able to revisit the sacrifices, struggles, and faith of those who stood bravely for our nation.

Following the viewing, the seminarians expressed their reflections through individual creative outputs—poems, essays, and posters, highlighting how the spirit of People Power can be lived out today in small but meaningful ways, especially within the context of seminary formation. The celebration concluded with a Pledge of Commitment, affirming our resolve to remember the lessons of EDSA People Power Revolution.

The DSHJ community joyfully participated in the National SANGKAN 2026—a gathering of minor seminaries across the Philippines—held last February 11–14, 2026 and graciously hosted by the Mary Help of Christians High School Seminary in Bimmaley.

Guided by the theme “Isang Angkang Tinawag Upang Maging Asin at Liwanag,” our seminarians experienced days filled with prayer, fraternity, sports, and meaningful encounters with fellow young men discerning the priestly vocation.

Bro. Nash Lee Viloria (G12) bagged the Bronze Medal in Badminton and Bro. Andrew James Parilla (G12) brought home the Silver Medal in Scrabble.

After the SANGKAN gathering, the community proceeded to a Human Development Program in Alaminos. They visited the Sisters of Jesus Good Shepherd convent for a meaningful encounter and also prayed at the St. Joseph Cathedral. The community likewise enjoyed a tour of the breathtaking Hundred Island, strengthening their bonds and fraternity through shared experiences and recreation.

This journey aimed to deepen brotherhood, foster growth in formation, and allow the seminarians to rejoice in one another’s company as one family called by the Lord.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our generous sponsors, benefactors and our dear parents and guardians for your continued support of the various formation activities of our minor seminarians. Your kindness sustains the mission of nurturing the formation of our young seminarians. Let us continue to pray for more priestly vocations in our Diocese.
