PRIESTLY ANNIVERSARY OF FR. JAMES

Last August 09, 2026, the DSHJ Community celebrated the Priestly Anniversary of our Rector, Rev. Fr. James R. Balderas.

Despite the heavy downpour, we gathered in thanksgiving through the Holy Mass and a simple fellowship. Truly, it is the Lord who sustains us in every season and continues to bless the gift of priestly ministry.

We thank God for the gift of your priesthood and your faithful service to our seminary community, Fr. James! Happy Priestly Anniversary! May the Lord continue to bless and strengthen you in your ministry.

MONTHLY RECOLLECTION | AUGUST

Last August 07–08, 2026, our minor seminarians had their monthly recollection, focusing on deepening their personal relationship with God, facilitated by Sr. Narci Peñaredonda, SJBP.

They were reminded that formation is above all, about knowing God personally, growing in friendship with Him, and allowing Him to guide their lives and vocation.

We are grateful to Sr. Narci, our spiritual directress for accompanying our seminarians in this meaningful time of prayer and reflection.

RECTOR’S CONFERENCE: GROWING IN VIRTUE

Last August 1, 2026, our seminarians gathered for the Rector’s Conference focused on the virtues we can develop in the seminary—attentiveness, punctuality, cleanliness, respect, obedience, initiative, patience, and gratitude.

Minor seminary formation is always becoming good persons and good Christians. Through our daily experiences, responsibilities, and challenges in the seminary, may these virtues become habits that shape us for life and for our vocation.

NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION 2026

With the theme “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan,” the DSHJ Community celebrated Nutrition Month through various activities that promoted healthy living, creativity and care for the environment.

Throughout the month of July, our seminarians participated in Essay Writing, Poster Making, Nutri-Quiz Bee, Cookfest, and Table Setting. These activities were scheduled outside class hours to give priority to uninterrupted academic classes while still providing opportunities for meaningful formation and community participation.

A celebration that reminds us: healthy choices and care for creation go hand in hand.

Monthly DSHJ Community Encounter with the Pastorelle Sisters

Last July 27, 2026, the DSHJ community once again gathered with the Pastorelle Sisters for their monthly encounter—a meaningful occasion of prayer, fellowship, and vocation sharing.

The gathering began with the celebration of the Holy Mass, followed by a shared dinner where the seminarians and the sisters exchanged stories of their vocation journeys. Through these moments of listening and sharing, everyone was reminded that every vocation is a gift nurtured by God’s grace and strengthened through the witness and support of one another.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the Pastorelle Sisters for their continued accompaniment, inspiring witness, and constant prayers for our seminarians. May the Lord continue to bless our shared mission of promoting and nurturing priestly vocations in the Church.

Last July 18, 2026, DSHJ community held its Human Formation Activity, centered on the theme “Affirmation.” Through interactive activities and personal reflection, the seminarians were encouraged to appreciate their God-given gifts and affirm one another in building a stronger and more supportive community.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐌𝐓. 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐋

Last July 16, 2026 the DSHJ community joined the Carmelite Community in Pindangan, San Fernando City, La Union, in celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

As part of the seminary’s cherished tradition, the DSHJ seminarians served as the Pontifical Servers during the solemn Eucharistic Celebration and participated in the Marian procession together with the Carmelite community and the faithful.

May Our Lady of Mt. Carmel continue to guide and protect our seminary community, and all those discerning God’s call.
