On May 21โ22, 2025, Sibuan-Otong Integrated School came alive with discovery as โProject Banyuhay: Enhancing Scientific Literacy of Educators and Learners through Community Engagement Activitiesโ officially took flight.
Spearheaded by the High School Science Department, the two-day program marked the beginning of a meaningful partnership aimed at deepening scientific understanding among students and empowering educators with innovative teaching practices.
For the learners, the experience was nothing short of transformative. โSCIskwela,โ a focused Science tutorial session, provided personalized academic support, while โAGHAMazing: To SCI is to Believeโ turned ordinary classrooms into vibrant laboratories of learning. Through hands-on and minds-on experiments, students were encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and explore the wonders of science.
Educators, on the other hand, found inspiration and renewed purpose through โPLC: Professional Louisiansโ Care,โ a professional learning community initiative that explored key topics in effective teaching. Sessions included discussions on Louisian Disciplinary Practices, the Flipped Classroom model, and Vertical and Horizontal Articulation โ all anchored in best practices shaped by the schoolโs commitment to academic excellence.
Beyond learning, the program extended care and support to the school community. Students received school supplies and snack packages, while the school was provided with essential laboratory materials in preparation for the new academic year.
Project Banyuhay is the fruit of collaboration among the High School Science Teachers, Science Probersโ Club Officers, and STEM Club Officers. More than just a one-time outreach, it is a commitment โ the start of a two-year partnership between the SLCHS Science Department and Sibuan-Otong Integrated School.
