The City College of San Fernando Pampanga (CCSFP) - Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Engagements (OVPAAIE), formally received the prestigious 2025 Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Trophy from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), marking another significant milestone in the institutionโs pursuit of excellence in internationalization and quality higher education.
Dr. Melanie G. Viloria-Briones, Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Engagements, together with International Relations Officer Mr. Cedric Joshua Jarcia and URSC Project Leads Ms. Keishla Joy Mallari and Ms. Alyssa Nicole Mallari claimed the award at the CHED Central Office. The recognition symbolizes CCSFPโs steadfast commitment to advancing globally competitive education, fostering meaningful international partnerships, and promoting academic excellence through innovative internationalization initiatives.
Following the formal receipt of the trophy, the CCSFP delegation paid courtesy visits to CHED Commissioner Hon. Michelle Ong and Dr. Lora Yusi, Director of the Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance. Central Luzon continues to gain ground in the global higher education landscape as six (6) Higher Education Institutions from the region have attained Reporter Status in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026โdoubling from three (3) HEIs in 2025.
This significant increase reflects the regionโs steady progress in academic visibility, institutional development, and international engagement. It also signals that more HEIs in Central Luzon are stepping onto the global stage and contributing to the broader discourse of higher education in Asia.
