The City College of San Fernando Pampanga (CCSFP) - Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Engagements (OVPAAIE), formally received the prestigious 2025 Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Trophy from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), marking another significant milestone in the institution’s pursuit of excellence in internationalization and quality higher education.

Dr. Melanie G. Viloria-Briones, Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Engagements, together with International Relations Officer Mr. Cedric Joshua Jarcia and URSC Project Leads Ms. Keishla Joy Mallari and Ms. Alyssa Nicole Mallari claimed the award at the CHED Central Office. The recognition symbolizes CCSFP’s steadfast commitment to advancing globally competitive education, fostering meaningful international partnerships, and promoting academic excellence through innovative internationalization initiatives.

Following the formal receipt of the trophy, the CCSFP delegation paid courtesy visits to CHED Commissioner Hon. Michelle Ong and Dr. Lora Yusi, Director of the Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance. The visits provided an opportunity for the institution to express its gratitude for CHED’s continued support of higher education internationalization efforts and to discuss CCSFP’s ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening its global engagement programs.

The ICONS recognition further affirms CCSFP’s dedication to its vision of producing competent, innovative, and globally responsive graduates. As the institution continues to expand its international footprint, CCSFP remains committed to fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and sustainability in higher education.

In her message, Dr. Melanie G. Viloria-Briones, Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Engagements, commended the interns for their dedication, professionalism, and willingness to learn throughout their internship journey. She emphasized that the knowledge, skills, and values they acquired during their training will serve as a strong foundation as they pursue their future professional endeavors.

Today, CCSFP Institute of Education proudly celebrates another remarkable milestone in the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT). The Office of Commissioner Michelle Aguilar Ong congratulates all the Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) that have earned their place within the Global Top 100 of the World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI) 2026.

This milestone stands as a powerful testament to the resilience and visionary leadership driving our LUCs as they command a presence on the global stage. It reinforces the fact that our institutions are not merely responding to industry shifts but are actively pioneering the future—cultivating a Globalized and Innovative Higher Education landscape dedicated to every Filipino learner.

WURI is a global ranking system that evaluates higher education institutions based on their real-world contributions and innovative approaches. With a focus on tangible impact, the system utilizes 6 core pillars (Industrial Application, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Ethical Value, Crisis Management, Student Mobility and Openness, and Generative AI Application) which significantly broaden the scope of how we measure academic success.

Please be advised that on May 7, 2026, the Province of Pampanga and Angeles City will observe the annual Jose Abad Santos Day. This day honors the martyrdom of the late Chief Justice and Fernandino hero.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 8815, May 7 is declared a special non-working holiday in these areas. Consequently, the City Government of San Fernando shall suspend work in all its offices on May 7, 2026, except for those with vital functions—including health, emergency services, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.

Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag calls upon all Fernandinos to honor the martyrdom of Jose Abad Santos and draw inspiration from his noble deeds.

Central Luzon continues to gain ground in the global higher education landscape as six (6) Higher Education Institutions from the region have attained Reporter Status in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026—doubling from three (3) HEIs in 2025.

This significant increase reflects the region’s steady progress in academic visibility, institutional development, and international engagement. It also signals that more HEIs in Central Luzon are stepping onto the global stage and contributing to the broader discourse of higher education in Asia.

This achievement directly aligns with the Commission's ACHIEVE Agenda, particularly Inclusive and Impact-Driven Internationalization, underscoring the commitment of Philippine higher education institutions to expand global linkages and strengthen international competitiveness.

CHEDRO III commends these institutions for this noteworthy milestone and encourages all HEIs in the region to continue striving for excellence and thriving in the international landscape. This achievement marks a meaningful step forward in strengthening Region III’s presence and recognition worldwide.

The City College of San Fernando Pampanga (CCSFP) has once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation and excellence after securing Rank 280 among the Top 500 Global Innovative Universities in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026.

This milestone underscores CCSFP’s growing global presence in advancing transformative education, research, and community-driven initiatives aligned with contemporary global demands. The WURI evaluates higher education institutions based on their innovative contributions to society, emphasizing creativity, adaptability, and real-world impact.

Notably, CCSFP also secured 15 entries in the Top 100 across various categories of the 24 recognized areas in the WURI framework. These accomplishments include:

Dumadami ang ang-e-enroll sa mga LUCs at SUCs natin - salamat sa Free Higher Education Law (RA 1093). Mula sa 4.6% participation ng pinakamahihirap noong 2014, 19.7% na ito noong 2022. 🏫

Mula 2018 hanggang 2021 naman, 530% ang itinaas ng enrollment sa LUCs sa Metro Manila.

Anchored on President Ferdinand R.
