As temperatures continue to rise across the country, the need for community awareness on heat-related health risks becomes increasingly important. Responding to this timely concern, Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) students conducted a community health seminar in Barangay Cabugnayan, San Juan, La Union, focusing on practical strategies to stay safe and healthy during the summer season.

The outreach initiative brought together residents of the barangay for an engaging and informative session that addressed key topics such as heat stroke prevention, proper hygiene, adequate hydration, and safe exercise practices under high temperatures. The activity aimed not only to educate but also to empower community members with knowledge that can prevent common heat-related illnesses.

Through initiatives like this, future physical therapists continue to play a vital role not only in rehabilitation but also in health promotion and disease prevention—especially in communities most vulnerable to the effects of extreme weather conditions.

The College of Physical Therapy proudly recognizes the successful conduct of the Proposal Defense of its Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences (BSESS) students. This milestone marks a significant step in their academic journey, reflecting their commitment to research, critical inquiry, and the advancement of knowledge in exercise, sports, and human performance.

The proposed studies highlighted key areas in physical activity, sports performance, health promotion, and exercise science applications, demonstrating the students’ growing capacity to identify relevant problems and develop evidence-based research directions.

The proposal was carefully evaluated by a panel of experts who provided constructive feedback to strengthen the methodological rigor, feasibility, and scholarly value of the studies. More than an academic requirement, the proposal defense served as an essential training ground for developing research competence, analytical thinking, and scientific communication.

This achievement underscores the College’s commitment to producing future exercise and sports science professionals who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to research, innovation, and evidence-based practice in the field.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐁𝐒𝐏𝐓 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 2026

The Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) Internship Training Program successfully concluded in April 2026, marking the culmination of months of rigorous clinical exposure, professional growth, and academic integration for the interns. The program, which commenced in July 2025, provided students with hands-on experience across various clinical settings, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world patient care. Throughout the internship period, students were immersed in diverse areas of physical therapy practice, strengthening their competencies in assessment, treatment planning, and patient management under the guidance of licensed professionals.

The program culminated in a comprehensive oral and practical examination, facilitated by registered physical therapists, serving as the final assessment of the interns’ clinical readiness and professional competence.

As the program concludes, the BSPT interns are now better prepared to transition into the next phase of their professional journey, including the Physical Therapy Licensure Examination and eventual entry into the healthcare workforce. The successful completion of the internship not only highlights the effectiveness of the training program but also reinforces the institution’s commitment to producing competent, compassionate, and globally competitive physical therapy practitioners.
