The Lorma Colleges NSTP Office received a Special Citation for Volunteer Service in Support of Disaster Response Operations during the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Office I (DSWD RO I) on March 19, 2026, held at the Pro Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Convention Center, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The recognition was awarded in acknowledgment of the Lorma NSTP Office’s active support and valuable contribution to disaster response operations through its committed NSTP student volunteers. The partnership between Lorma Colleges and DSWD RO I began last semester and has since become a meaningful collaboration rooted in service, compassion, and civic responsibility.

This honor is a reflection of the dedication, diligence, and volunteer spirit of the Lorma NSTP student volunteers, whose efforts have greatly contributed to the success of various initiatives in support of communities affected by disasters. Their willingness to serve stands as a testament to the true essence of nation-building and volunteerism.

Adding to the significance of the recognition, Lorma Colleges was the only school in the Province of La Union to receive the said award. This milestone brings pride not only to the institution but also to the entire NSTP community, whose commitment to service continues to create a positive impact beyond the campus.

The award was received by Dr. Bernardo Tayaban, CESO-NSTP Director, and Ms. Neferthea Quinquito-Morales, NSTP Coordinator, representing the Lorma NSTP Office during the anniversary celebration.

This achievement affirms the Lorma NSTP Office’s steadfast commitment to community engagement, disaster response support, and the formation of socially responsible student volunteers who are always ready to extend help in times of need.

𝙉𝙎𝙏𝙋 𝘽𝙎𝙉 2-3 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙇𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙣 𝙎𝙋𝙀𝘿 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨

BSN 2-3 successfully implemented their community project, “Learning without Limits: A Holistic Life Skills Support Program for SPED Students,” last March 4, 2024 at the Bacnotan SPED Center, Bacnotan, La Union. The activity focused on supporting learners with special needs through engaging life skills activities designed to promote independence, confidence, and meaningful learning.

Through interactive sessions and student-led facilitation, the program created a nurturing environment where SPED learners could explore practical skills while experiencing encouragement and inclusion. The initiative reflects the commitment of NSTP students to extend compassionate service and responsive community engagement.

Small steps, big impact—because every learner deserves opportunities without limits.

The National Service Training Program (NSTP) of LORMA Colleges successfully conducted the READY 360: Comprehensive DRRM Skills Training for NSTP Students (Batch 1) last February 28, 2026, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection – BFP San Juan Fire Station.

Held at the Campus for Learning and Innovation, San Juan, La Union, the training equipped NSTP students with essential Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) competencies, reinforcing the principle that preparedness is both a civic duty and a life-saving skill.

Fire officers from the BFP San Juan Station facilitated lectures and practical demonstrations on fire prevention, emergency response protocols, basic life-saving techniques, and safety procedures. The hands-on training enhanced students’ confidence and competence in responding to emergencies—strengthening their role as proactive partners in community safety.

Through this collaboration, the NSTP Office continues to uphold its mission of producing socially responsible and disaster-ready students who are prepared to protect lives and contribute meaningfully to community resilience.

Following the approval of their community project, “Namnama para iti Salun-at ken Kinatalged: Improving Community Health and Safety Through Sustainable Waste Management and Basic Health Services”, BSN students formalized their partnership with Barangay Bato through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing held last February 20, 2026.

The MOA establishes the roles and responsibilities of both the students and the barangay officials in implementing the project. It ensures coordinated efforts in promoting sustainable waste management practices and delivering essential health services to the community.

With the agreement in place, BSN students are now fully prepared to commence the project, demonstrating their commitment to applying their nursing skills in real-world settings while fostering stronger community collaboration and sustainable health initiatives.

During their coordination meeting last February 11, 2026, BSN students received the green light for their community project, “Namnama para iti Salun-at ken Kinatalged: Improving Community Health and Safety Through Sustainable Waste Management and Basic Health Services”, set to be implemented in Barangay Bato.

BSN 1–5 students’ community project, “Dalluyun: A Service Initiative on Floating First Aid Training and Emergency Preparedness at Sea,” received the go signal during a coordination meeting last February 13, 2026, at Barangay Catbangen, San Fernando, La Union.

The initiative aims to train coastal community members in first aid and emergency response at sea. Barangay officials expressed full support, recognizing its importance in enhancing local safety and preparedness.

This project highlights the students’ dedication to applying their nursing skills in real-world settings, empowering communities, and promoting proactive safety measures in maritime environments.

𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨: 𝙎𝙀𝙉𝙔𝘼𝙎 𝘽𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 1 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙉𝙎𝙏𝙋 𝙑𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨

Last February 14, 2026, Batch 1 of “SENYAS: Learning the Basics of Sign Language” was successfully conducted at the Campus for Learning and Innovation. Now on its second year of implementation, the training continues to strengthen the institution’s commitment to inclusive education and community engagement under the NSTP–CWTS program.

The training featured Ms. Wendyl Navalta as the resource speaker, who guided the NSTP students through the fundamentals of sign language, including fingerspelling, basic vocabulary, and essential conversational expressions. Through her interactive sessions, participants were able to practice and apply their learning in simulated communication scenarios, enhancing their confidence in engaging with members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

As the program progresses into its second year, the initiative envisions that NSTP students will become capable and confident in communicating effectively through basic sign language. By equipping students with inclusive communication skills, the training reinforces the core NSTP principles of service, empathy, and civic responsibility.

The successful conduct of Batch 1 highlights a continued effort to cultivate socially responsive students ready to promote accessibility and inclusivity in their future community engagements.

𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚: 𝙉𝙎𝙏𝙋 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙅𝙤𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙎𝙒𝘿 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙛 𝙍𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚

Last February 11, 2026, NSTP–CWTS students rendered volunteer service by assisting in the repacking of relief goods in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The activity aimed to prepare essential supplies for distribution to communities in need.

Demonstrating solidarity and social responsibility, the NSTP volunteers helped organize, sort, and repack food and non-food items to ensure that relief packs were complete and ready for deployment. Their participation contributed to the efficient preparation of assistance intended for affected families.

Through this hands-on engagement, the students embodied the core principles of the National Service Training Program—service, civic consciousness, and active community involvement. The February 11 volunteer effort highlighted the value of youth participation in humanitarian initiatives and strengthened collaboration between the academic institution and government agencies.
