Today, we celebrate with bliss the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a woman chosen by God to birth our Savior, Jesus Christ. Born humble and pure, she was already set apart โ€” not for greatness of the world, but for the greatest mission in history: to be the Mother of God, and our Mother too.

Her life began as a quiet promise, slowly unfolding into the โ€œYesโ€ that changed everything forever. As Saint Bernard of Clairvaux said: โ€œShe is the gate of heaven, the door through which God came to us, and the way by which we may go to Him.โ€

Maryโ€™s birth reminds us: God writes beautiful stories from ordinary beginnings. He prepares hearts long before He calls them โ€” and when we offer our lives to Him, no matter how small or simple we think we are, He makes us part of His saving plan. She is the dawn that announced the Sun of Justice; the flower that bore the sweetest Fruit. From her first breath, she was already leading us closer to Jesus.

Blessed are you among women, O Mary! Thank you for saying โ€œyesโ€ โ€” for being the faithful handmaid, the loving Mother, and our surest guide to the heart of your Son.

May we, like you, remain humble, faithful, and open to Godโ€™s will in every season of our lives.

Amidst the continuous rainy season, a sunny Sunday filled with faith, prayer, and fellowship was celebrated on the first Sunday of the month as the church was filled to its capacity for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM, PhD, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Rumpearl Tenkings Isaac, CICM, whose presence and reflection brought solemnity and meaning to the celebration.

At the heart of the celebration, the homily emphasizes the need to treat our brothers and sisters with honesty and understanding. This encouraged the congregation that repairing the wrongs of others should not be viewed as an act of condemnation but as one of compassion, understanding, and reconciliation. The Society of Political and English Academic Rapiers (SPEAR), while awaiting to be officially recognized as a student organization for the current school, served as one of the sponsors of the 23rd Sunday of the Ordinary Time at the Transfiguration of Our Lord Chapel.

As the celebration ended, it was not only an opportunity for prayer, but also a reminder of the need to inspire faith in each other and to care and walk together

Jesus teaches that when someone wrongs us, we must first speak privately with them, not to shame them but to win them back. Love leads with mercy and gives every chance to make things right, protecting their dignity above all else.

If they refuse to listen, take one or two trusted witnesses, so truth may be confirmed fairly. This reminds us justice is careful, balanced, and humbleโ€”not quick to judge or accuse. Truth and mercy walk hand in hand.

If they still refuse, bring the matter to the Church, for we are one Body, and we care enough to help each other grow. Even then, we never stop loving them; we only separate ourselves from what is wrong, never from the person.

Jesus then promises that where two or three gather in His name, He is there. United prayer and faithful discernment carry heavenโ€™s own authorityโ€”we do not need many, only hearts truly seeking God together.

In our world today, we often rush to shame publicly or stay silent to avoid trouble. Jesus shows us a better way: speak gently first, listen fairly, correct with love, and stand together in faith. He is in our midst whenever we gather to seek truth and rebuild what is broken.

Love is brave enough to speak, humble enough to listen, and faithful enough to hope. And wherever Christ is at the centerโ€”even just two or threeโ€”healing begins.

Held on August 25, 2026, at Cafรฉ Luis, Saint Louis College, the afternoon session of the Pre-Student Internship Program (SIP) seminar brought together fourth-year BA Political Science students for discussions that bridged academic preparation with the practical demands of professional work. The session centered on two areas essential to their forthcoming internship experience: effective workplace communication and the ethical responsibilities that accompany professional practice.

Ms. Viviene Aisha Gugol-Baker, the Head of the College Information and Marketing Office (CIMO), opened the afternoonโ€™s session with the topic โ€˜Basic Communication Skills and Writing Business Correspondence.โ€™ Ms. Gugol-Baker led the students through a brief discussion of the fundamentals of handling workplace communication with clarity, precision, and professionalism. She further discussed practical approaches to communication, proper formats for legal documents, and other conventions essential to professional correspondence. Students also took part in mini-activities that tested their familiarity with common spelling and grammar mistakes before moving into the more practical task of writing a memorandum.

The session continued with Legal Ethics, delivered by Atty. Paolo Gonzalo Garcinez, a private litigator and owner of Garcinez Law Firm, that centered on maintaining confidentiality as a fundamental responsibility in professional practice. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding documents, information, and other work-related materials when working within organizations and professional settings, underscoring the trust placed in those entrusted with such responsibilities.

The afternoon's discussions gave students a closer look at the standards expected in professional settings, reinforcing that preparation for internship extends beyond technical knowledge. It also calls for the ability to communicate with care, handle information responsibly, and uphold the ethical obligations attached to the work.

Aimed at equipping the fourth year BA Political Science students with essential skills and professional readiness for their upcoming internships, a Pre-Student internship Program (SIP) Deployment seminar was conducted on August 25, 2026, at Cafe Luis, Saint Louis College.

Mr Jocel R. Opena, the Program Head of Liberal Arts and Student Internship Practicum (SIP) Coordinator, delivered a lecture on "Practicum on Political Science" where he presented the general qualitative evaluation results of the interns last school year provided by the Host Training Establishments (HTEs).

The session proceeded with Mr. Opeรฑaโ€™s discussion on Gender and Development, a topic that was suggested during the last school yearโ€™s Industry-Academe Interface. Basic concepts were reiterated like how one's gender dictates the expected roles, issues, problems, successes, and failures together with the concept of gender sensitivity, gender awareness, gender responsiveness, and lastly, gender mainstreaming. The sharing concluded by highlighting the roles of institutions in the promotion of gender roles that support equality and healthy relationships. Mr. Opeรฑa was the former GAD Focal Person. .

Mr. Paolo G. Dolor, Manager of San Luis del Mar, came next as the second speaker during the morning session. He dealt with Personality Development and Office Etiquette. His sharing emphasized on how unique thought and behavior patterns emerge over time through genetics, environment, parenting, and personal experience. The discussion highlighted building exterior confidence and credibility through proper grooming, personal hygiene, and professional etiquetteโ€”emphasizing practical standards like the "5 S's" (stand firm, smile genuinely, see their eyes, say hello, and shake hands) and daily etiquette habits. Participants also explored personal development as a tool for self-improvement by identifying core traits and setting daily growth goals.

Further, the session with Mr. Dolor continued with Interpersonal Communication Skills, centering on the idea that effective communication extends far beyond verbal words. The speaker emphasized how non-verbal factorsโ€”such as rate of speech, volume, tone, pitch, distance, posture, and gesturesโ€”directly influence how messages are received and how comfort level drives open communication. Students then applied these concepts through practical discussions on maintaining a positive mindset and applying proactive etiquette in professional and social settings.

The morning session provided the 4th-year BAPOS students with a comprehensive foundation for their upcoming workplace entry. By bridging the practical expectations of Host Training Establishments with essential soft skillsโ€”from personal grooming and etiquette to non-verbal communicationโ€”the lectures equipped the students with both the professional mindset and interpersonal tools needed to excel in their Student Internship Practicum (SIP).

Benigno โ€œNinoyโ€ Aquino Jr. was a senator, a journalist, a husband, a father, and one of the remarkable Filipino people whose life was marked by public service and a firm stand for democracy, choosing to fight for the Filipino people. Despite his arrest during martial law and years of exile in the United States, he remained committed to the hope of restoring freedom through peaceful means that led to his assassination on August 21, 1983, a return that awakened the Philippines, shocked the nation, and a death that sparked a stronger call for action.

The Society of Political and English Academic Rapiers commemorates this day not only to remember Ninoy Aquino but also as an opportunity to reflect on the values his life continues to teach us. A sacrifice that speaks of his courage, love, and willingness to fight against injustice remains important in the Philippines today. The values that challenge us to think critically, act upon our civic responsibilities, and use our voices responsibly.

There are moments when life convinces us that we are not enough. We look at our limited abilities, scarce resources, and uncertain future, believing that they could never make a difference. In a world that glorifies abundance and self-sufficiency, it is easy to think that our small offerings are insignificant. Yet perhaps the greatest obstacle is not our lack, but our failure to trust that God can do extraordinary things through what seems ordinary.

Too often, we focus on the size of the problem rather than the greatness of the One who stands before it. We forget that God's work has never depended on the abundance of human strength but on the willingness of human hearts. When we surrender our time, our talents, our kindness, and even our brokenness into His hands, He transforms them into blessings beyond what we could have imagined. What we consider insufficient becomes more than enough when entrusted to Him.

This reminds us that God is not asking us to have everything; He is asking us to trust Him with whatever we already have. Our role is not to perform miracles but to place our lives in His hands with faith. When we offer ourselves wholeheartedly, God multiplies not only our gifts but also our capacity to love, serve, and hope.

After all, God does not ask for abundanceโ€”He asks for surrender.

The Saint Louis College Society of Political and English Academic Rapiers (SLC SPEAR) proudly recognizes the outstanding achievements of the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Batch 2026 during the Commencement Exercises held on July 3 at the Fr. Burgos Gym.

Leading the graduating class of BAPoS are Zairylle Trixie Nicole C. Garcinez and Cylas Joselle C. Motea, who both earned the distinction of Cum Laude, exemplifying academic excellence, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to scholarship throughout their undergraduate journey.

Their remarkable accomplishment reflects the values of intellectual rigor, critical inquiry, ethical leadership, and service that the Political Science program and SLC SPEAR continue to uphold. As they embark on new paths in law, governance, public service, and other professional fields, they carry with them the ideals and excellence that define the Louisian Political Science
community.

Matthew 11:25โ€“30 highlights how Jesus received divine authority from God the Father, as they are one, sharing mutual divine knowledge and moral judgment. It shows how He was granted the power to ease and help the burdens of the people. Through having faith in him, He grants them a renewed life and a rest for the soul.

As humans, we must always believe and trust the Lord, even though tough times may come along our way. God grants His gifts to those who humbly show faith and believe in Him rather than those who act proud and holy while displaying malicious or arrogant behavior. Jesus, granted with divine wisdom and knowledge, invited the people to come to Him and to grant those who face burdens and challenges may find rest, comparing those burdens to a yoke.

As students, we must always find time to rest from our academic lives and have personal time for deep reflection and meditation. We should also focus on our lives outside of academics and make time to honor and praise God because through Him, we find true rest for our souls.
