The Northern Philippines College for Maritime Science and Technology (NPCMST) successfully conducted an Employability and Productivity Seminar for Graduating Students on April 29, 2026, at the NPCMST Gymnasium, bringing together all fourth-year students in preparation for their transition from academic life to the professional world.
The event commenced with preliminary activities, including an invocation and followed by the singing of the National anthem, setting a formal and reflective tone for the seminar. This was followed by the welcome remarks of Dr. Maria Lourdes Evelyn F. Javalde, who emphasized the importance of readiness, adaptability, and continuous learning as key factors in achieving career success.
In the morning session, invited speakers from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) delivered insightful discussions on employment opportunities, labor market trends, and essential workplace competencies. Their presentations provided students with practical guidance on navigating the job market and understanding employer expectations.
The afternoon session featured academic leaders from various colleges within the institution. Engr. Jeffrey Padirayon, College Dean of the College of Engineering, and Felipe L. Bantiyan Jr., MSCRIM, College Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education, shared valuable perspectives on industry demands and board exam topics. Additionally, 2/E Vermon Lagon, Program Head of the Marine Engineering Department, contributed insights relevant to maritime careers, while a video presentation from the College of Computer Education highlighted emerging opportunities in the field of technology.
The seminar concluded with a closing message from Anilyn V. Pascual, Head of the Student Services Office, who encouraged the graduating students to apply the knowledge they gained and to remain proactive in pursuing their chosen career paths.
The activity was facilitated by the Guidance Office in collaboration with the Student Body Organization, led by SBO President Lydel Jam Baga. The seminar served as a significant initiative in equipping graduating students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindset to become productive and employable members of society.
