SAFETY MEASURES CONTINUE! FIRST ROUND OF FUMIGATION HITS BASA AIR BASE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Cleanliness is the only medicine for many a disease." — Proverb

This quote explains that keeping our environment tidy is the most effective way to stop diseases like dengue from spreading in the first place. It reminds us that while fumigation helps, maintaining a clean school is our best defense against getting sick.

The fight against dengue remains a top priority as the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Floridablanca and Rural Health Unit (RHU) 1 continued their fumigation efforts at Basa Air Base National High School (Senior High School) on May 5, 2026.

This latest activity is a continuation of the ongoing health campaign to ensure every corner of the campus is protected. By extending the misting operations, health workers are making sure that no mosquito breeding spots are left behind, providing a double layer of safety for students and teachers alike.

The community is encouraged to remain vigilant as the LGU stays committed to maintaining a clean and virus-free environment for all Floridablancenos.

UPGRADING OUR FUTURE: NEW SCIENCE LAB MATERIALS ARRIVED

"Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge." — Carl Sagan

This quote reminds us that a laboratory isn't just a room with equipment; it is a place where students learn how to think critically and solve problems. By expanding our lab facilities, we are giving our students the physical space they need to develop the mindset of future leaders and researchers.

Big things are happening at Basa Air Base National High School! Today, May 6, 2026, marks a milestone for our young scientists as we officially received a major delivery of hardware materials for the extension of our Senior High School Science Laboratory.

As our school community grows, so does our need for space where students can experiment, discover, and innovate. This expansion is fully supported by the Local School Board (LSB), ensuring that our learners have the best facilities to match their potential.

We are excited to see this new space take shape and can't wait to see the amazing experiments our students will conduct here!

ENGINEER INSPECTS DETERIORATED SCHOOL BUILDING; DEMOLITION RECOMMENDED

"We must prioritize the safety of our students and staff by removing structures that no longer serve a safe purpose," stated a school official during the site assessment. This news report documents the formal inspection led by Engineer Gelo Guevarra, whose findings provide the necessary evidence to move forward with the school's request for demolition. By linking the engineer's technical evaluation to the school's urgent safety concerns, the report justifies the need to clear the area for future construction.

On May 5, 2025, Engineer Gelo Guevarra from the Engineer’s Office visited Basa Air Base National High School – Junior High School to conduct a critical safety inspection of the Home Economics room. The visit was prompted by growing concerns that the building has become a hazard to the school community. During the assessment, it was noted that the structure is now over 50 years old, causing the foundation and walls to crumble and lose their stability over time.

The inspection further revealed a massive termite infestation that has severely damaged the wooden frames, leaving the room hollow and unsafe for any person to enter. Beyond the structural issues, the decay has created large gaps in the floors and walls. These health and safety risks have made the building a danger to everyone nearby, leading to a formal request for its immediate removal.

Looking ahead, school officials intend to demolish the old structure to clear the site for a brand-new classroom. This demolition is seen as a vital first step in ensuring the campus is safe and ready for new construction. By replacing this high-risk building with a modern facility, the school aims to provide a better and more secure learning environment for its students.

BASA AIR BASE NHS JOINS WORKSHOP ON SCHOOL SITE OWNERSHIP RECORDS

Representatives from Basa Air Base National High School participated in an important online workshop hosted by the Floridablanca District Office on April 30, 2026. The session, led by Public Schools District Supervisor Bernabeth B. Manio, PhD, focused on the proper collection of school site ownership data and legal documents. This meeting was held to help school heads organize and update the official papers that prove the school's land ownership, ensuring that all school properties are properly recorded and protected by the government.

Keeping these records organized is a vital part of protecting the school's future. As the saying goes, "A solid foundation provides the strength to build something lasting." In simple terms, this means that just as a building needs a strong base to stay standing, a school needs clear and legal "papers" to stay open and grow. By making sure all the land documents are correct and complete, school leaders are protecting the students' place of learning. This ensures that the school can continue to receive funding for new buildings and improvements for many years to come.

BASA AIR BASE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL LEARNS NEW SCHOOL RULES IN DISTRICT MEETING

Representatives from Basa Air Base National High School joined an online meeting held by the Floridablanca District office on April 29, 2026. The meeting was led by Dr. Bernabeth B. Manio and focused on new rules for schools. During the session, they talked about the new three-term school calendar, better ways to plan lessons, and how to grade students fairly. They also discussed how to give out awards, how to keep teaching during emergencies like typhoons, and how to make Senior High School even stronger for the students.

These changes are all about making sure school works better for everyone. As the famous saying goes, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." This means that by fixing the way we teach and grade, we are giving students better "tools" to succeed in life. When the school calendar is better organized and lessons are planned well, students have a better chance to learn and grow. By making these updates, Basa Air Base National High School is making sure its students are ready for the future, no matter what happens.
