On March 28, 2026, the Union Christian College โ School of Business Sciences, in partnership with JIFA, JFINEX, JESICS, and SBS-SBO, successfully conducted the Bookkeeping, Education, and Skills Training Program at Union Christian College. The activity aimed to equip the SK Council and Barangay Kagawads of Sta. Monica, Bauang, La Union, with practical knowledge and skills in budget preparation and financial management.
The training focused on understanding the Budget of Expenditures and Sources of Financing for FY 2026, emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and responsible use of public funds. Participants were guided on proper budgeting processes and were introduced to Excel as a helpful tool to simplify budget preparation, computation, and monitoring.
Through discussions and hands-on practice, the participants gained insights into how basic business education and technology can support better decision-making and improve governance at the community level. The program also highlighted the role of local leaders in ensuring sustainable and effective financial planning for the benefit of their constituents.
Overall, the activity showed the School of Business Sciences' commitment to extending its expertise beyond the classroom by empowering communities through education. It reinforced the value of applied skills, collaboration, and service in building stronger and more sustainable grassroots leadership.
