Tropical Depression Querubin Likely to Form, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Visayas and Mindanao via Dost_pagasa

At 2 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 12a) being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a high chance of development into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. This system is expected to be named Tropical Cyclone Querubin, marking the 17th storm of 2024 and the first for December.

The LPA is currently located approximately 155 kilometers east-southeast of Tagum City in Davao del Norte and is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone, which is affecting weather patterns in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. According to the latest weather forecast issued at 4 AM, residents in these areas should prepare for significant rainfall and thunderstorms.

Forecast Weather Conditions

The forecast weather conditions indicate that Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Low Pressure Area. This region faces risks of flash floods and landslides as a result of moderate to heavy rainfall.

In the Bicol Region and Quezon, similar conditions are anticipated, with potential flash floods and landslides caused by the shear line.

The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, influenced by the Intertropical Convergence Zone. The risk of flash floods and landslides remains a significant concern in these areas.

In Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora, cloudy skies with rains will be prevalent due to the Northeast Monsoon, which poses similar risks of flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated light rains, posing no significant impact.

Regarding wind and coastal conditions, Northern and Central Luzon will experience strong winds from the northeast, leading to rough coastal waters. Other regions will encounter moderate to strong winds with varying coastal conditions.

As for temperature and humidity, the range for the previous 24 hours was between 24.6 degrees Celsius and 30.8 degrees Celsius, with relative humidity levels fluctuating between 58 percent and 86 percent.

In terms of tidal information for Metro Manila, the low tide is expected at 6:57 AM, while the high tide will occur at 10:36 PM.

Residents are urged to stay informed and prepare for adverse weather conditions as developments unfold.
