In the 48kg Category A (Male) division, 𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗥𝗢𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗬𝗘𝗦 secured the 𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗔𝗟 after a series of intense and well-fought matches.

His performance highlighted sharp technique, composure, and fighting discipline against strong competition.

Under the guidance of 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗔, Zambales continues to make its mark in combat sports.

𝓑𝔂 𝓒𝓮𝓮-𝓙𝓪𝔂 𝓩𝔂𝓻𝓮 𝓜𝓪𝓷𝔃𝓪𝓷𝓸

San Antonio National High School (SANHS) robotics team clinched second place at the Division Science and Technology Fair (DSTF) Phase 1 on March 2, 2026, showcasing their ingenuity amid fierce competition.

Held in San Antonio, Zambales, the event gathered top student innovators from schools across the province under the theme “Advancing the Future through Science and Technology.” Teams competed in various categories, including the robotics challenge, Young Innovators Challenge, STEMTok-periments, Environmental Science Extemporaneous Speech, and Science Quiz Bee, judged by experts from the Department of Education (DepEd).

SANHS's victorious entry, Water-Activated Tracker Technology for Soil Moisture (WATTS), is a self-sustaining system composed of microcontrollers, sensor probes, and water pumps, powered by a hydrogenator, battery, and DIY inverter—intended for precision agriculture. Led by Christian Francois Aseo, the team overcame technical glitches just minutes before their presentation.

“I can’t say I’m disappointed,” said Aseo. “We didn’t expect our study to compete in the Division and other events; we thought it was just for our research subject requirement. Imagine the sleepless nights we endured to make that prototype work—and then it placed second. That’s already a huge accomplishment. Of course, I couldn’t have done it without the team; I’m truly thankful to have them with me.”

Despite the team’s podium finish, they fell one place short of qualifying for the robotics challenge regionals. However, with robotics gaining traction in Philippine schools, SANHS’s success inspires peers to blend creativity with technology for a brighter future.

The team was under the guidance of their coach, Sir Renz Casiano.
