Empowering Young Minds for Health and Environment: School Celebrated Nutrition Month 2026

In celebration of National Nutrition Month last July, the school community came together to champion proper health, healthy eating, and environmental stewardship under this year’s national theme: “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!”
To mark this momentous occasion, a series of creative and educational activities took place on Friday, July 31, 2026. All class advisers guided their students through their respective grade-level tasks designed to instill healthy habits early in life.

Young learners in Kindergarten kicked off the celebration with a Coloring Activity, where they colored illustrations of various fruits and vegetables to help them recognize healthy food choices. Class advisers provided the coloring sheets and materials needed for the task.

For Grade 1, students expressed their creativity through Drawing and Coloring, creating their own artistic drawings of various fruits and vegetables and bringing them to life with color.
In Grade 2, learners participated in a Cut and Paste Activity centered around the Pinggang Pinoy concept. Students cut out pictures of nutritious food items and organized them into their correct categories Go, Grow, and Glow by pasting at least two examples per group. Advisers provided the materials, and the activity was completed both individually and in small groups.
Finally, Grade 3 students showcased their teamwork and artistry through Collage Making, creating artwork centered on healthy, nutritious foods using various materials supplied by their class advisers. This activity was also carried out individually and in groups.

Teachers and parents actively supported the young learners as they discovered the vital connection between a balanced diet and a healthy planet. Class advisers prepared the necessary materials ahead of Friday’s event, ensuring a fun, meaningful, and seamless experience for all participants.

Prioritizing Student Wellness: AIS Learners Undergo Health Assessment and Screening (LHAS) 2026

To ensure that every learner is physically fit, healthy, and ready to thrive in the classroom, Alibihaban Integrated School recently conducted the Learners’ Health Assessment and Screening (LHAS).
Led by District Nurse Kharla L. Banquiles, the health initiative aims to identify early health concerns, provide necessary interventions, and promote overall wellness among our students.

This systematic health drive is anchored on DepEd Memorandum No. 50, s. 2025 as part of the flagship Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OK sa DepEd) program, which consolidates all health and nutrition efforts to keep learners safe, healthy, and engaged.

Nurse Banquiles and the school health team evaluated students across four core health dimensions:
Nutritional Assessment: Measuring height and weight to evaluate Body Mass Index (BMI) and identify students who may require nutritional support or intervention.
Physical Examination: Taking comprehensive medical histories and conducting general head-to-toe physical checks to detect early signs of common health issues.
Sensory Screening: Conducting basic vision and hearing examinations to ensure sensory challenges do not impede learning.
Oral Health Evaluation: Checking teeth and gums to detect cavities, prevent oral diseases, and promote proper dental hygiene.

Health and academic success go hand in hand. By detecting potential health concerns early, the LHAS ensures that minor issues are addressed before they impact a student's attendance, comfort, or academic performance.

Tips for Parents and Guardians:
Review Health Updates: Keep an eye out for individual health assessment forms or notes sent home regarding your child’s results.
Follow Up on Recommendations: If Nurse Banquiles recommended further medical or dental evaluation, please consult your local health center or specialist.
Reinforce Healthy Habits at Home: Encourage daily tooth brushing, a balanced diet, proper handwashing, and adequate sleep every night.

Healthy habits build strong minds. By identifying potential health concerns early, LHAS helps the school community work together with parents to provide timely intervention, ensure regular school attendance, and boost overall academic performance.

Thank you to District Nurse Kharla L. Banquiles, our school administrators, teachers, and supportive parents for making this health assessment a success!

Alibihaban Integrated School Marks the 48th National Disability Rights Week Through Meaningful and Inclusive Activities

Alibihaban Integrated School participated in the observance of the 48th National Disability Rights Week, held from July 17 to 23, 2026, in compliance with Division Memorandum No. 0447, s. 2026 issued by the Department of Education – Schools Division of Quezon Province.

This year’s celebration was anchored on the theme, “Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development.” Through its participation, the school demonstrated its commitment to promoting inclusion, accessibility, respect, and equal opportunities for all learners, especially children with disabilities.

In accordance with the memorandum and with the approval of the School Head, Alibihaban Integrated School conducted various age-appropriate activities to raise students’ awareness about disability rights and foster empathy among learners across all grade levels.

Kindergarten pupils participated in a Coloring Activity that introduced the values of kindness and inclusion through creative expression. Grade 1 learners created Smile Cards, which they gave to classmates to spread happiness and encouragement. Grade 2 pupils completed the Heart of Kindness activity by writing or drawing simple acts of kindness on paper hearts. Meanwhile, Grade 3 learners made colorful Handprints containing short messages promoting inclusion, respect, and acceptance.
Grade 4 students engaged in the interactive "Step Into My Shoes" activity, where they experienced different challenges by communicating using body movements only, performing tasks with one hand, and navigating while blindfolded with a classmate's guidance.
The activity concluded with a guided reflection that encouraged learners to express their feelings, identify what helped them overcome the challenges, and suggest ways of supporting classmates with disabilities.

For Grades 5 and 6, learners watched an educational video highlighting the proper treatment and respect for persons with disabilities, followed by a meaningful class discussion and reflection facilitated by their advisers. Meanwhile, advisers of Grades 7 to 9 integrated a short discussion into their regular lessons focusing on the different types of disabilities and learning difficulties, disability rights, individual differences, and the importance of inclusive education.

Through these meaningful activities, Alibihaban Integrated School demonstrated its dedication to nurturing compassionate, respectful, and socially responsible learners while strengthening awareness of the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities. The observance served as a reminder that creating an inclusive school community begins with understanding, empathy, and respect for every individual.

Bantay Kalusugan: Provincial health office Conducts Skin Testing and X-Rays at Alibihaban Integrated School

In a proactive effort to safeguard the health of students, the Provincial Government Health Office (PHO) recently conducted a comprehensive Purified Protein Derivative Skin Test (PPD) on-site at Alibihaban Integrated School.

The health initiative provided free PPD Skin Tests for students and Chest X-rays specifically targeting individuals aged 15 years old and above.

PPD and it’s importance
The PPD skin test is a diagnostic tool used to detect tuberculosis (TB) infection by measuring the immune system’s response to injected TB proteins.

•Detects TB Exposure: Conducted to determine if the student has been exposed to or infected with Tuberculosis (TB).

•Enables Early Detection: Vital for early detection, ensuring that the student receives appropriate medical evaluation and preventative care or treatment if necessary.

•Is Safe & Not a Vaccine: Is not a vaccine and cannot cause Tuberculosis.

•Requires a 48-Hour Follow-Up: Involves injecting a very small amount of testing solution just under the skin of the forearm. The test site must be read by a healthcare worker within 48 hours.

Potential Reaction & Side Effects

•Mild pain, stinging, or soreness.
•Redness or slight swelling.
•Itching around the injection area.
•Stronger Reactions: In rare cases, a larger bump or swelling may develop if the individual was previously exposed to TB or has a strong immune reaction.
•Severe Allergic Reactions: Extremely rare.

"Early detection is our strongest line of defense. By bringing these screening tools directly to schools like Alibihaban Integrated, we can catch potential infections early and ensure a healthier, safer learning environment for everyone." — Provincial Health Office Representative

The administration of Alibihaban Integrated School expressed deep gratitude to the Provincial Health Office for bringing vital medical services directly to the campus, emphasizing that student wellness is directly linked to academic success.
