MUSLIM—ANCESTORS OF MANILA
Alam niyo ba na bago pa man tayo sakupin ng mga espanyol, Ang Maynila ay tinuturing na prinsipalidad ng Muslim taong 1250's hanggang sa dumating ang mga ito sa Maynila at sinakop tayo ng Espanyol taong 1571.
Tayo ay nauna nang pinamunuan ng mga Islam ng halos tatlong daang taon, ngunit iilan lamang ang pamilyar doon.
“Muslims brought greatness to us even before the Spaniards reached our shores. We were then the ‘Land of Rajahs’ because rajahs ruled Manila, specifically the Rajah Sulayman dynasty.” Salaysay ng alkalde.
Marahil ito ay hindi natin alam o atin nang nakalimutan, ngunit sila ay parte ng aking kasaysayan. Lumipas ang panahon ngunit wala silang maayos na himlayan sa sentro ng lungsod.
Bilang paggunita at pagtanaw ng utang na loob, naglaan si Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso ng lugar ng himlayan para sa mga kapatid nating Muslim.
"We will give them the space because we owe it to them," hayag ng alkalde.
Mayor Isko Moreno on building the first historic muslim cemetery in The City of Manila:
" After 500 years of existence of our Country and for the 449 years existence of the City of Manila, we have broke ground of the very first Manila Muslim Cemetery"
Sa pagtala sa kasaysayan at pagtatama nito , ma-i-paalala sa sususnod na henerasyon na ang Lungsod ng Maynila ay unang pinamunuan noong unang panahon ng mga kapatid nating mga Muslim , tulad nina Rajah Sulayman Rajah Matanda Lakandula, Rajah Bago.
They are our ancestors we have to be reminded of that! and ironically its quite unfair to our citizens, our muslim brothers and sisters , who have been living with us for has no space in our cemetery. Bakit meron tayong North Cemetery , Chinese Cemetery, South Cemetery bakit walang Muslim Cemetery?
NOW we will give them space that they deserve because we owe it to them ! -- Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso
