BLUE FALCONS OVERTHROW PINK JAGUARS, 2–1

Grade 10–Blue Falcons defeated Grade 11–Pink Jaguars, 2–1, during a Battle for Gold match in the Volleyball Girls category of Sagay National High School’s Intramurals earlier this afternoon on August 13, 2026, at the Sagay National High School Volleyball Court.

These two teams met after a series of elimination games against the other grade levels. The Blue Falcons advanced with scores of 25–13, 23–25, 25–12.

In the first set, the crowd witnessed a series of rallies led by the Grade 10–Blue Falcons after consecutive communication errors by the Grade 11–Pink Jaguars.

The errors committed by the Jaguars increased the Falcons’ advantage throughout the game. Despite the Jaguars’ attempts to regain momentum by scoring on consecutive serves, the Falcons showed their strength by blocking the attacks and maintaining the gap as they won the first set 25–13.

After the Falcons’ early advantage in the first set, the second set began fiercely, featuring a back-and-forth exchange of scores from both teams. The Pink Jaguars gained momentum after repeatedly scoring against the Blue Falcons.

Staying behind for much of the set, the Blue Falcons caught up and tied the score, heating up the match as it approached its climax. After another exchange of serves, the Grade 11–Pink Jaguars seized the momentum and clinched the second set 25–23 over the Grade 10–Blue Falcons.

With the Pink Jaguars winning the second set to tie the match at 1–1, the game moved to a third deciding set.

After their previous loss, the Grade 10–Blue Falcons immediately dominated the early portion of the third set, building a 12-point lead. The gap they created hurt the Jaguars’ chances as the Falcons maintained a steady pace. They finished the match with a 25–12 score, ultimately winning gold with a 13-point advantage.

After both teams exchanged handshakes, the interaction marked the conclusion of a hard-fought battle between the Grade 10–Blue Falcons, and the Grade 11–Pink Jaguars.

SPORTS FEATURE ¦ The Pillars Beyond the Circle

Victory has been claimed and the cheers have erupted across the diamond in McAllen, Texas. Amid the crowd of jubilant teammates, 14-year-old Arabella Jito shone radiantly—not only as a world champion, but as the world's brightest star.

The Grade 9 Student of Sagay National High School received a distinction that is only reserved for the world's finest athletes—she has just been named the Most Valuable Player of the 2026 PONY International Softball World Series Girls 14-Under Division.

In the eyes of multiple, the award was received by a girl whose composure and confidence conquered the pitch. But, long before the world knew about the golden arm—pillars stood beyond the very circle that called upon her name.

Arabella was simply a young girl with a glove, and a big dream. Her journey in softball began when she was in elementary school. Unbeknownst to her, she discovered the sport that would eventually shape her life greatly. Jito's bond with the game eventually deepened as she entered Grade 7 at Sagay National High School and took on softball's most demanding roles—that of the team's ace pitcher.

For three years, each training wove the sport deeper into the fabric of her life. Confidence slowly took root and resilience was nurtured. But as John Donne once wrote, "No Man is an Island."

She never walked into the spotlight alone.

Alongside her was her older sister, Nathalia Jito, currently a Grade 10 student and the team's first baseman. Bounded by the same passion, the two sisters spent years on the diamond strengthening trust, discipline, and an unspoken promise to bring honor to their home town.

Yet, beyond the boundaries of the diamond stood their strongest pillar that held everything together.

Their father, Ever Jito, a job order employee and driver of the City Government of Sagay, became their primary source of encouragement. He gave his daughters something greater than equipmens—he gave them the belief that every sacrifice carried something greater despite the sea of storms along the journey.

As Arabella helped steer the Philippines to a milestone achievement, her MVP title weighed greater than just a personal achievement—it became a symbol of what dedication, family support, and perseverance can accomplish.

Mayor Leo Rafael "Bebo" Cueva echoed with pride, saying that Arabella's achievement is not only a victory for one, but also for every single Sagaynon.

"Arabella's journey reminds us that excellence is built through perseverance, discipline, and the support of family and community. Her achievement inspires every young Sagaynon to dream bigger and believe that they, too, can compete with the best in the world," he said.

Every strike thrown and every triumph celebrated stood victories that were never heard—sacrifices that were never announced, and prayers unheard by the crowd.

Although history's pages may forever bear the name of Arabella Jito as the Most Valuable Player whose brilliance commanded the pitch, her journey will always begin and end with the pillars beyond the circle.

OPINION ¦ National Disability Rights Week: Going Beyond The Barriers

Every ability is unique. Every individual is embraced.

As the gate opens, students enter the school, carrying the perseverance to learn, and the eagerness to achieve their dreams. Among them are learners with unique challenges who face adversities that many of us may not notice. Some communicate differently, and others need extra support.

Despite of these conditions, they still work hard, and dream of a better tomorrow just like everyone else.

Thatʼs why, every year, the Philippines celebrate the National Disability Rights Week, which reminds individuals that every person with disability deserves equal treatment, respect, and opportunities. They have the right to learn, work, and participate in a society without any discrimination.

Sometimes, the biggest challenge is not the disability itself, but the way people treat them. Cruel words hurt, and laughter at someone's flaws strikes like an arrow shot from a bow.

However, through kindness, respect, and understanding towards people who have disabilities—a big difference can be made. On campus, we can help each other by being inclusive to all, treating everyone with dignity, respect, and standing against bullying.

As students of Sagay National High School, let's create a community where every individual's strength and voice is recognized and appreciated—allowing every learner, as well as those with disabilities, to feel embraced and included.

Inclusion starts with us. Let's be considerate to every individual, no matter what they are.

OPINION ¦ Feeding the Future

Way before the final dismissal of the teacher or the brief class break begins, the familiar feeling every student feels each day is hunger. After hours of difficult lessons, we can hear the growling of stomachs, the soft jingle of coins, and in the chatter of students with their friends about what their cravings for snacks are.

Every Nutrition Month celebration in July is something students look forward to. We can see them wearing costumes, inspired from fruits and vegetables. Events and fun activities are also held within the school campus where everyone can see the essence of celebrating Nutrition Month. In the few days that it is celebrated, schools paint a picture of the nourishment in which every child deserves.

Many students until now are just buying their lunch according to what their allowance can fit, rather than eating something that provides nutrition. Sometimes, the few food options that can fit in a one-day budget is a few pieces of siomai, a 15-peso fried chicken, rice, and a sweetened drink. Even if they already feel full, the stomach still needs proper nutrition to stay healthy.

This is not something that some students can control, because not all have the means to buy the food that can sustain the proper nutrition of their body. As an effect, fried snacks, processed foods, and sweetened drinks remain the most affordable choices for many students. In the end, the price tag often determines what ends up on the table.

This reminds us that nutrition isnʼt only about campaigns and celebrations—it is reflected in parents who prepare meals before dawn, despite long hours of work. It is found in classmates who willingly share their lunch and friends who never hesitate to divide what little they have. It is also seen in canteen workers who serve hundreds of students each day with the hope that every meal contributes to both health and learning.

Hopefully, when Nutrition Month comes to an end, the message should not end with the celebration only, because every meal carries the future of each student and the dreams they want to achieve.

SPORTS NEWS ¦ Sagaynon Glory: Negrense Softbelles Stuns Mexico's RXII Kino Team, Earns Redemption as U14 PONY World Series Champions

Sagay City in Negros Occidental, represented by the Student-Athletes of Sagay National High School, emerged victorious in the 14-Under Division of the 2026 PONY International Softball World Series, after defeating Mexico's RXII Kino Team, 4-2, in the championship game held in McAllen, Texas, USA on Monday, July 20, 2026 (Philippine time).

The victory secured the Negrense Softbelles' redemption after finishing only fourth in last year's tournament, before returning to claim the title.

Sagay City's young athletes topped a field of 30 teams across the globe, pushing through 11 games from the elimination round to the finals, which capped off in an intense four-game marathon on the final day.

In a statement, Department of Education-Negros Island Region Director Ramir Uytico lauded the performance of the team from Sagay National High School.

"This achievement is a testament to the strength of sports development across the region," he said.

"Remarkable achievement reflects the power of teamwork, discipline, resilience, and unwavering determination," said by the Sagay City OIC Schools Division Superintendent Dannie Clark Uguil as he paid tribute to the players, coaches, parents, and supporters of this monumental feat.

"Our athletes continue to prove that heart, preparation, and unity can compete with anyone in the world. Win or lose, you have already inspired every Sagaynon by showing what dedication and teamwork can achieve," added by Sagay City Mayor, Hon. Leo Rafael Cueva

With the U14 title, Sagay City secured its second PONY International World Series championship, adding to its U16 title in 2024.

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡👩‍🏫

This October arrives to celebrate the heroes of dreams and mentors of skills—not the Avengers, but they sort of have the same powers as them; they are none other than our teachers.

Every day, they shape big futures for little dreamers. Imparting knowledge and views to our tomorrow’s leaders. In hand, they have chalks that serve as their own weapon—not to fight the bad guys, but to hail wisdom and teach students lessons they must learn in the class. They have books instead of shields because they will be the kind of heroes you will have to see fight in a different battlefield. This is because teachers gather strength towards their own goal—educating their students with all their soul.

To our dearest teachers, this month is for you. A thousand thank you(s) wouldn’t be enough to express how grateful we are for your sacrifices, mentorship, care, guidance, and love throughout our school days. But, regardless of how insufficient our thank you(s) is to make up for everything you do, we still want to give you our sincerest gratitude. Because without you, the path to success will be much harder to trek; the vastness of opportunities will be a challenge to tread.
