Sablayan Central School Holds Two-Day INSET, Tackles Skills Gaps and Reading Challenges

Sablayan Central School conducted a two-day school-based In-Service Training (INSET) on September 10 - 11, 2026, as part of a mandated professional development program that addresses identified gaps in teachers' skills.

Teachers attended GBF Online Training on the first day. On the second day, the school held a face-to-face session that opened with welcome remarks from Maria Reishelle N. Dueñas, Principal II, followed by the continuation of the GBF online training.

Midway through the program, Myla R. Suguitan, Education Program Supervisor II for Values Education, and Evelyn C. Barrientos, Public Schools District Supervisor of Sablayan South District, visited the school to monitor the training.

"Change is constant in the Department of Education. Instead of being reacting we should develop the right mindset to embrace these changes," Ma'am Suguitan said.

Ma'am Barrientos followed with an inspirational message to the participants.

Salvador C. Mangsat, Teacher II, then discussed Alignment of Classroom and National Assessement.

Ma'am Dueñas closed the session by presenting her solutions to the school's reading problem. She introduced a reading profile and tracker that teachers will use to monitor learner progress from the Beginning of School Year (BOSY) to the Middle of School Year (MOSY) and the End of School Year (EOSY).

The two-day training showed the school's continuing effort to close skills gaps among teachers and address learning challenges early. With clear plans now in place, particularly the new reading tracker, Sablayan Central School moves into the school year better prepared to support both teachers and learners.

Setting the Direction: Sablayan Central School Holds First School Meeting

Sablayan Central School held its first school meeting with Principal II Maria Reishelle N. Dueñas on August 24, 2026, bringing together 38 regular teachers, 2 locally paid teachers, and 2 non-teaching personnel for an initial discussion on the direction and priorities of the school.

The meeting focused on goal setting, scheduling of school activities, and the designation of committees for various school programs and activities. Principal Dueñas also discussed important reminders and expectations to help ensure proper coordination, organization, and smooth implementation of school operations.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the school personnel to align their plans, responsibilities, and commitments as they work together toward the shared goals of Sablayan Central School.

TUPAD Workers Support School Improvement Initiatives at Sablayan Central School

Over a period of 10 days, TUPAD workers carried out various activities at Sablayan Central School as part of the collaborative program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The workers engaged in activities focused on the improvement, maintenance, safety, and beautification of the school. These included the cleaning of school grounds, classrooms, and facilities; repainting of walls; clearing of grasses and overgrown vegetation; development of garden plots; pruning of tree branches that posed potential safety risks; collection and proper disposal of waste materials; maintenance and minor repair of electrical appliances; and assistance in other school maintenance and preparation activities.

The 10-day engagement contributed to the continued efforts of Sablayan Central School to maintain a clean, safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment for its learners, teachers, and the entire school community.

The initiative demonstrates the continuing collaboration between government agencies and schools in supporting school improvement and creating better spaces for learning.

🎉 A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS AT SABLAYAN CENTRAL SCHOOL 🎉

Sablayan Central School joyfully welcomed its new School Head, Ma. Reishelle N. Dueñas, Principal II, during her formal installation held recently.

Gracing the occasion was Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Arnaldo G. Ventura, who personally led the installation rites, underscoring the significance of this new leadership for the school community.

The event was made even more meaningful with the presence of the teachers of Poblacion Integrated School, who came to accompany and send off their former school head as she begins this new journey with Sablayan Central School.

With warmth and full support, the Sablayan Central School family welcomed Mam Dueñas into her new role. In turn, she graciously accepted the challenge of leading and managing the school, expressing her commitment to serve with dedication and passion.

Adding to the celebration, the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), led by PTA President Efren T. Dela Cruz and Vice President Diosdado Fortu, expressed their unwavering support for the new administration — a clear testament to the strong partnership between the school and the community.

A Fond Farewell to a Beloved School Head

Sablayan Central School family gathered together for a farewell celebration in honor of our esteemed Principal IV, Ma'am Elizabeth H. Pasajol, who has led our school with grace for the past three years.

Ma'am Tabeth, as she is fondly called, is more than just a school head — she is a leader who is loving, kind, dynamic, and humble in every sense of the word. Under her leadership, Sablayan Central School consistently performed well in academics and journalism, and the school itself flourished physically, with an ongoing canteen construction funded by the LGU and a new classroom set to rise by January. The steady support of our stakeholders, strengthened through the leadership of PTA President Mr. Efren Dela Cruz Jr., is also a testament to the trust and unity she nurtured within our school community.

We were also graced by the presence of Sir Arnaldo G. Ventura, our Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, who added warmth and joy to the occasion. His words, delivered with so much humor and light-heartedness, had everyone laughing — turning what could have been a purely emotional gathering into a celebration filled with genuine smiles and laughter.

It was truly a bittersweet moment for all of us — bidding goodbye to a leader who has given so much of herself to Sablayan Central School, while also celebrating the legacy of excellence, unity, and progress she leaves behind.
