BTLEd Joins CCP Pasinaya: Bringing Art, Culture, and Community to Capiz! ✨🎨

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Pasinaya: The Open House Festival brought a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and community to Capiz on February 7–8, 2025, and the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) faculty and students were proud participants in this meaningful cultural event.

On the culinary side, Prof. Michael Vincent C. Barrera showcased a cooking demonstration of his research-based dish, Nilabugan nga Manok sa Gata, together with Jackielyn Valderama, a third-year BTLEd student majoring in Home Economics. Their presentation highlighted the value of research, tradition, and local flavors in Filipino cuisine.

Entrepreneurship and innovation were also on full display as Prof. Jarry S. Fuentes facilitated a pop-up tiangge featuring food products developed through campus-based business initiatives. The activity highlighted local creativity, food innovation, and student-led entrepreneurship through a lively marketplace experience.

On the art side, Prof. Markneil C. Casidsid brought color and creativity to the festival as he showcased his artistic mastery by painting a mural using bold brush strokes and vibrant splashes of color. He was joined by first-year BTLEd students Joseph James Saplan, Hance Dumelina, Sharlie Silvestre and Mike Renan Alvarez majoring in Industrial Arts, who actively participated in the mural painting, turning the activity into a shared expression of art, collaboration, and learning.

Through their active involvement, the BTLEd faculty and students demonstrated how education, culture, and creativity come together to celebrate heritage, inspire communities, and nurture future educators and artists. 🌾🎭🎨

More than a gathering, the event became a heartfelt expression of the true spirit of Christmas—sharing blessings, spreading joy, and strengthening community bonds.

𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢, 𝐑𝐨𝐱𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐳, where Fuliment had the opportunity to extend its Christmas outreach by 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧, bringing smiles and warmth to their hearts. 🌿 BTLEd Students Celebrate Slow Food Terra Madre! 🌿

The students of the 3rd year Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) had a productive day in the field as they participated in the workshop on December 10, 2025, in Capiz Province Park, Roxas City titled Slow Food: Our Plate, Our Planet-Agroecology and Biodiversity and the Future of Food.

The event was organised by the Capiz Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office and Slow Food Community Capiz and was part of the global Terra Madre Day which is a movement that encourages communities to adopt sustainable, equitable and environmentally conscious food practices.

The field trip gave the students an eye opener on the need to conserve biodiversity, appreciate the traditional food heritage and to assist the local food systems. It was not only a workshop but it was also a way to make them look at themselves as future educators and champions who can change the ways of people in their communities to make better and healthier food choices. 🌾🌍

The Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) students participated in a Seminar-Workshop on Crafting Instructional Materials for Effective Learning held last October 8, 2025, at the Capiz State University Conference Hall.

The event, conducted under the subject Technology for Teaching and Learning I, featured Ms. Amelia B. Villasana and Mr. Jun Joseph C. Juare as guest speakers and facilitators. Their sessions provided valuable insights and hands-on strategies for designing and developing instructional materials that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

The program was formally opened with an inspirational message and welcoming remarks from Dr. Mary Ann D. Cervas, BTLEd Program Chair, who emphasized the importance of creativity and innovation in teaching.

This meaningful activity strengthened the students’ understanding of effective instructional design, preparing them to become future educators equipped with the skills to make learning more dynamic and impactful. 🌟

Young Agri-Entrepreneurs Rise in Western Visayas

​Stephanie Cadena, a fourth-year student of Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, is among the young farmers gearing up for the provincial-level competition in Western Visayas. She recently attended the two-day Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Campaign and Agri-Business Model Canvas (Agri-BMC) Writeshop, held on September 11-12, 2025, at WESTOWN HOTEL, Iloilo City.

​The event, led by the YFC Regional Program Management Team (RPMT), was designed to strengthen and develop solid, high-quality business plans for young agri-entrepreneurs from Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo. Cadena’s business model for her Herb Infused Smoke Bangus was a key focus, as she worked to refine it for the upcoming competition.

​During the writeshop, participants learned about the program's orientation, the nine building blocks of a successful business model, and the pitching mechanics. The event also featured previous YFC awardees who shared their inspiring journeys and the impact the program has had on their lives.

​This initiative highlights the commitment of the YFC RPMT and the Provincial Government Offices of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo to support the next generation of leaders in agriculture.

​
