A well-crafted title is essential in research writing as it is the first thing journal editors, reviewers, and fellow researchers encounter. It serves as the gateway to your paper, determining whether your work will capture the interest of its intended audience. An effective title should encompass the key elements of your study while remaining accessible and engaging, ensuring it stands out in databases and search engine queries.
Here are some steps to help you formulate your research title:
Step 1: Ask Key Questions (questions about what your paper seeks to answer and what it accomplishes )
Step 2: Identify Keywords (identify and list key words and phrases that is important for your study)
Step 3: Create a Long Sentence (use the keywords to form a descriptive long sentence)
Step 4: Crafting a Working Title (trim your long sentence into a concise working title. Remove unnecessary words.)
Step 5: Refine Your Title (aim for a title with 16 words or fewer. Put key terms at the beginning and end.)
Following these steps will help you craft a better working title.
