Livelihood Technology: Hollow Blocks Production
Products: 75 Pieces Hollow Blocks of good quality.
Space needed: 5M x 5M Laydown Yard
Materials: Steel Mould (standard size), 1 Bag Portland Cement, Wheel Barrow, Sand, Flat Spade, Small Pail, 1 meter Wooden Paddle, Water
Procedures:
1. Using Wheel Barrow, prepare 12 wheel barrows of clean sand (remove stones in the sand) and transpose the sand to clean area in prepared laydown yard.
2. Put 1 bag of Portland cement to 12 wheel barrows of clean sand.
3. Mix the sand and cement.
4. Form 2 rings of mixed sand and cement. The first ring should have enough space for watering. The second ring is like a canal.
5. Pour one and a half pails of clean water to the first ring of the mixture. Then add half pail of water to the canal of the second ring. The canal is made in order to control the escape of water from the mixture.
6. Using flat spade, mix now the mixture.
7. After observing good mixing, put 2 spade of mixture to the steel mould and press it using the flat wooden paddle. Add some amount of mixture to the mould if necessary.
8. If the desired compression of the mixture in the mould is acceptable as per your observation, bring the mould to the clean area in the lay down yard and eject the fresh hollow blocks from the mould (note that the standard mould design has a built-in ejector).
9. Allow the fresh hollow blocks to dry for 2 days or more. Sprinkle it with water while drying.
10. After the determined period of drying, your hollow blocks are now ready for sale.
