From the perspective of an ordinary Filipino citizen who follows national affairs, it is difficult not to notice the resemblance between Korean historical dramas and the current political climate in the country. For years, various reports of corruption, conflicts, and sudden political shifts have created a narrative that often feels dramatic, unpredictable, and frustrating. Many citizens find themselves saying, “Nakaka.... na ’to. Pinaglalaruan ang mga Pilipino,” as events unfold.
Recently, another unexpected political development occurred—almost like a plot twist. Someone was removed, and someone else revealed information without warning. These moments are reminiscent of K-dramas where a king investigates corruption within the palace. Characters who initially appear loyal—ministers, advisers, even the queen—are later exposed as key figures behind the wrongdoing. In some storylines, the most trusted leader is ultimately revealed to be the true source of corruption.
This parallel highlights a prevailing sentiment: ang Pilipinas ngayon ay parang K-drama—puno ng twists at puno ng lihim. The public has limited access to the full truth. Citizens cannot easily determine who the real culprits are, when justice will be delivered, or how the story will eventually unfold.
Yet one thing is certain in any narrative: every drama has a final episode where all hidden details are revealed.
However, an underlying concern remains among Filipinos: What if this political drama ends with a cliffhanger? What if justice is never fully served? These are questions without clear answers.
For now, the role of the citizen is to stay informed, observe developments carefully, and hope that in the end—whenever that may be—truth and justice will prevail, not as another twist, but as a rightful conclusion.
