When we applied to become students of FCU College of Nursing, one question asked of us was, "Why do you want to be a nurse?" Our answers were naive, ambitious, and even idealistic. Never did we imagine that during our nursing student years we will witness the greatest challenges and triumphs of the nursing profession. With COVID-pandemic ravaging the world, nurses were pushed to the frontline and became essential workers hailed as "heroes." And yet, we also witnessed thousands of nurses succumbing to the physical and mental burden of the pandemic leading us to question whether we were indeed in the right course.
As we neared the end of our education, we were blessed to be given a chance to experience clinical nursing through simulation and limited face to face classes and clinical duty. That glimpse of what our future will be empowered us to pursue our journey because we finally realized that we may not totally change the world, but we can "give light to the world by teaching and touching a few."
We are the VISIONARIES OF HEALTH. We may do small and simple things but through Christ's MIRACLES, our efforts will be magnified and great things shall be brought to pass.

FCU CN Class of 2022 meets Class of 1976
It was a brief yet riveting moment for us, the Level 4 nursing students of Class 2022, to be in the presence of the pioneering Filamerian nurses during their Alumni Homecoming. Together we celebrated the 50th Founding Anniversary of our College of Nursing as they imparted to us their lifelong learning acquired through years of experience.
Indeed, it is a great responsibility to be a Filamerian nurse because we do not only carry the task of the nursing profession but we are expected to embody the ideals of our department and our University. It is not enough to serve as a Filamerian nurse... we must reflect Christ in our dealings and we must always make Filamer proud wherever we may be and whatever we may become. This is the lesson we learned from the Class of 1976, a lesson we will hold dear.

We started with minds set to be trained to serve and hearts on fire to face the challenges.
Life was simple then. Fresh from senior high, we were eager to explore the world of nursing.
We thought it was simply going to be a world of studies and a bit of fun.
And this is how we were.
