Where the Land Meets the Water, Hope Takes Root

In a community where the land is often softened by marshes and tested by floods, every tree planted is more than a seedling—it is a promise of resilience.
As part of the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month 2026, Novele National High School, in partnership with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Rosario, transformed an ordinary day into a meaningful step toward a greener and safer future through a tree-planting activity.

For the people of Novele, a marshy and flood-prone community, caring for the environment is not merely a responsibility—it is a necessity. Each seedling planted symbolizes hope that future generations will inherit a community better prepared to face the challenges of climate change while preserving the beauty and balance of nature.
The initiative was realized through the unwavering support of Hon. Mayor Jupiter C. Abulog and the dedicated leadership of Mr. Lolito Idpalina, MDRRMO Head, whose commitment to disaster preparedness continues to inspire collective action across the municipality.

At the forefront of the school's efforts were Mr. Richard A. Tadle, School Principal, whose vision continues to strengthen community partnerships, and Mr. Joey C. Luna, School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRM) Coordinator, who led the implementation of the activity alongside teachers, students, and MDRRMO personnel.

More than planting trees, the activity cultivated awareness, responsibility, and unity. It reminded everyone that resilience is not built overnight—it grows quietly, one tree, one hand, and one shared purpose at a time.

For a community that has long learned to live with water, the greatest strength lies not in resisting nature, but in nurturing it.
