Joint PTA Conference for Renaming and Conversion of Sablayan ES to Sablayan Integrated School Supported: August 29, 2025
By Florencio D. Muyo Jr., T3/TIC
Agnipa National High School-Sablayan Extension and Sablayan Elementary School gained support from the parents, teachers, and community in a joint PTA conference. Present during this conference were Barangay Chairman Hon. Fernando M. Faigao, PTA Pres. Hon. Shirley M. Cerdena, SES PTA Vice Pres. Hon. Jennelly R. Hermano, SES Head Teacher Joel M. Selfaison Jr., Florencio D. Muyo Jr., ANHS-SE Teacher-in-Charge, 13 SES teachers, 11 ANHS-SE teachers, and 158 parents/ guardians combined.
During the conference, Mr. Muyo highlighted the current situation of ANHS-SE such that it is not entitled to have a school ID to be a stand-alone school for lack of a required lot area of at least 5,000 square meters and most of the lot area its makeshift classrooms have occupied in 13 years is a private property that is gradually retracted by its rightful owner. These have been the compelling reasons for a need of integration with the adjacent elementary school with a vacant lot where Junior High School classrooms could be structured. However, the existing classrooms of ANHS-SE could be occupied by senior high school learners in the future.
Mr. Muyo likewise reasoned that integrating the two schools by renaming and converting Sablayan ES into Sablayan Integrated School would offer the following benefits: strengthened institutional identity, enhanced resource allocation, efficient land utilization, shared facilities, holistic educational planning, expanded employment, continuity of learning, and cross-level mentoring and activities.
