In 2025, many people across the Philippines learned through the news about corruption involving public funds. Many residents felt angry and saddened because they believed that money intended for important projects, such as bridges and dams that could help prevent flooding, had been misused by influential individuals for their own benefit.
Instead of using the money to improve communities, some individuals were accused of using it to support a luxurious lifestyle, including expensive houses and cars. As a result, some public projects were reported to be broken, incomplete, or poorly constructed. This contributed to damage to homes, roads, farms, schools, businesses, and communities during severe flooding.
The issue caused many people to lose trust in the government. In response, citizens held protests and expressed their feelings through drawings, songs, poems, and other forms of art. Many people believe that the money lost to corruption should have been used to improve the economy, protect communities, and help develop the country.
