Nine ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ (ARAL) tutors and other reading teachers participated in a School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) session held on September 11 at Macutay-Palao National High School, aimed at empowering teachers in teaching reading as the foundation of student learning.
The said SLAC session is in support to the nationwide program launched by the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines to address learning gaps, especially in reading, mathematics, and science for Kindergarten to Grade 10 learners.
During the session, English teacher and Brigada Pagbasa focal, ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐. ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ served as a speaker, who presented a walkthrough of the reading materials and encouraged her colleagues to actively support studentsโ reading comprehension.
In addition, ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ ๐. ๐๐๐๐ข๐จ, also an English teacher, shared effective reading strategies from her experience at Our Lady of Fatima Montessori Interactive Learning Center in Tuguegarao City.
Meanwhile, ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ง ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ , the schoolโs Instructional Leader in English and one of the sessionโs organizers, facilitated the event and motivated her colleagues to continue improving learnersโ literacy and numeracy skills.
The SLAC session was supported by the school administration, led by Principal ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ฅ ๐. ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ, highlighting the schoolโs commitment to professional development and quality education.
Overall, the session showcased collaboration, expertise, and a shared commitment to enhancing student learning through improved reading instruction.
