𝐁𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐠, 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧, 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐎𝐓𝐂𝐉 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬

Jhoanna Marie Badong, Jeffrey Calisin, and Emelyn Villamin of Pamitinan, the official student publication of University of Rizal System Rodriguez, secured spots in this year’s Search for Outstanding Tertiary Campus Journalists (OTCJ) in Region IV-A (CALABARZON) on March 14.

Badong, the Managing Editor, was named Top 2 Outstanding Tertiary Campus Journalist after garnering a total of 80 points. Meanwhile, Calisin, the Editor-in-Chief, and Villamin, the Associate Editor, ranked sixth and seventh, earning 60 and 50 points, respectively.

The search was organized by the Association of Tertiary Press Advisers of Southern Tagalog (ATPAST), Inc.

Pamitinan, the official student publication of University of Rizal System Rodriguez (URSR) bagged group and individual awards and secured one qualifier for the Luzon-wide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) during the Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC) held at Batis Aramin Hotel and Resort, Lucban, Quezon on Feb. 14-16.

Advancing to LHEPC is Jhoanna Marie Badong who clinched 1st place in Sports Writing (English) and 10th place in Column Writing (English). Meanwhile, King James Villaroya, secured 8th place in Traditional Literary Graphics Illustration (Filipino) and Emelyn Villamin ranked 9th place in Feature Writing (English).

Take a glimpse of the event brought by the College of Education major in English, a meaningful gathering filled with learning, reflection, and connection. The General Assembly served as a space for English majors to reconnect with one another and engage in discussions that foster academic growth and shared purpose. 📚

Through this assembly, GEM once again created an avenue where students felt a sense of belonging—reuniting with fellow English majors and building bonds that go beyond the classroom. It was indeed another successful milestone for the organization and its members. 🏆💜
