Good Philippine! 300,000 Filipino Laborers Will Enter Employment in Mainland China

According to reports from the Philippine World Journal, the Labor Minister of the Philippines, Palau, said that the Philippines and China have signed an agreement to lift China’s restrictions on Filipino workers and are ready to accept 300,000 Filipinos for employment in China, including 100,000. English teacher.

Palau added that senior Philippine officials and Zhao Jianhua, the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines, signed a memorandum of understanding that stipulates that the Filipino teachers pay 1,500 U.S. dollars a month. The agreement covers details such as wage standards, related benefits, working hours, labor treatment, and labor protection against abuse.

According to Palau, the Chinese labor department is also recruiting Filipino cooks, caregivers, housekeeping staff, musicians and nurses, and added that Chinese families can now provide decent wages for Filipinos. “There is a great demand for English teachers in China. Chinese citizens all want their children to learn English. They lack sufficient teachers who can understand English. Families need English-speaking maids who can help their children learn. China’s aging population is also growing. Increase." Palau said that all Philippine will work in Beijing, Shanghai and three other major cities.

The Philippines is a large exporter of labor services. The government also has a more mature overseas labor dispatch system and management practices. The Philippines is one of the world's largest exporters of labor services. Overseas labor remittances are an important pillar of the Philippine national economy, accounting for about 9% of GDP. The number of contractual laborers working for Philippine abroad is about 2.4 million, which is about 2.4% of the total population. There are also a larger number of Filipino immigrants and settlers or residents, and the total number of Filipinos working overseas is close to 10 million.
