The JETMS Sablay

Through the years, the JETMS population has thrived with a significant number of Ifugao, Igorot, Ilocano, and Tagalog students, making the institution a safe ground for the Indigenous Peoples of the region.

This rich blend of vernacular cultures inspired the conception of the JETMS Sablay. This garb carries the JETMS colors adorned with a Cordilleran inabel. It is worn loosely on the left shoulder down to the right hip, to represent a flowing river. The creator of the JETMS Sablay credits this idea to an Ifugao elder who told her the story of how their family came to settle in Ramon, Isabela. They followed the river from Aguinaldo, Ifugao and it let them here. The flowing river is the link of the cultures that strengthen the bloodline of the JETMS Family.

The JETMS acronym is written in Baybayin, the ancient writing script of the Philippines. This pre-Hispanic text is a homage to our forefathers who have tirelessly toiled for the Motherland.

The JETMS Sablay is worn as a pledge of every graduate that the labor for the Motherland will continue. The alumni carries a civic responsibility to perform outside the institution. The sablay-wearing graduate will face the world carrying the colors of their tribe reassuring the ever-diverse society that every JETMSian is first and foremost a Filipino.
