BRIEF HISTORY OF QUEZON CENTRAL INSTITUTE
In February 1950, a group of civic-minded citizens of Quezon, Quezon led by the late Mayor Jose Genciana, Sr., his Secretary Mr. thought of putting up a private high school in this municipality. At that time there was no other high school in this municipality. In view of the presence of high schools in the nearby towns and of the clamor of the people particularly the parents of high school students who could not afford to send their children to other places, Mr. managed to accompany Mayor Genciana and his Secretary to Gumaca, Quezon where they met the Vilar who promised to prepare the necessary papers required in the application for the creation of the first year classes. On February 15, 1950 Mr. Taňada, Sr. was advised to prepare the necessary facilities and equipment. The pioneers of QCI looked for a suitable school house and building. Their choice was the newly constructed big house of Mr. Lim Sio Kee. This building was appreciated and approved by Vicente Vilar. With all the pertinent papers and applications to operate the private school, particularly the creation of First-Year Class was approved. The QCI was formally allowed to enroll the First Year class starting school year 1950-1951. During the school year 1956-1957, the 4th Year students of QCI started transferring to the new 3-storey building owned by the family of Mr. Taňada. This building, although almost 50 years old now, is still being used up to now Quezon Central Institute was granted Government Recognition no. 190, series of 1955 by the Department of Education for the Complete Academic Secondary Course with Vocational Subjects effective June 1, 1955. Taňada ( now Mrs. Trinidad) Since 1974, QCI has been solely owned by the family of Mr. The pioneer class of 1950-1951 reached only up to 2nd-year level.
