The Student Regent (SR) is the sole student voice in the UP Board of Regents (BOR), the highest governing body in the entire UP System. The SR is tasked to represent student interests, lead advocacies, and safeguard student rights and welfare in the UP BOR.
This college-wide deliberation is the first phase of the three-part selection process, followed by university-wide deliberations and later on the system-wide deliberation. Note that ONLY those endorsed at the unit level will move forward to the final stage: the General Assembly of Student Councils (GASC), where the official ranking of nominees will be finalized.

The UP Department of Anthropology warmly congratulates Assoc. Prof. Efenita May M. Taqueban on her election as the new Chairperson of the Department for the next triennium. She succeeds Asst. Prof. Felipe P. Jocano, Jr., whose dedicated leadership has guided the Department over the past three years.
A lawyer and anthropologist, Dr. Taqueban’s work engages with a broad range of issues that touch on the global political economy, human rights, and social suffering. She has worked on topics ranging from the maternal health crisis among women in informal settlements in Manila to the everyday use of plastics in countries across the Global South. “Mai,” as she is fondly called by her colleagues and students, also works closely with Indigenous Peoples in the recognition and protection of their rights to land and the environment.
We thank Asst. Prof. Jocano, Jr. for his service and wish Assoc. Prof. Taqueban all the best as she leads the Department in the years ahead.
Pagbati, Mam Mai!

NAGKAKAISANG PAHAYAG NG MGA ANTROPOLOGO NG BAYAN NG UP ANTHROPOLOGY SOCIETY AT ANTHROPOS CORE GROUP HINGGIL SA PAGMASAKER NG 79TH IPBA SA TOBOSO 19
Mula Bulwagan hanggang Kanayunan, Tuligsain ang Pasistang Rehimen!
Itaguyod ang Dignidad sa Fieldwork! Singilin ang Hustisya para sa Toboso 19!
Mariing kinokondena ng UP Anthropology Society at ng Anthropos Core Group ang marahas na operasyon ng 79th Infantry Battalion, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa Brgy. Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental.
DEFEND NEGROS!
DEFEND FIELDWORKERS!
HUSTISYA PARA SA TOBOSO 19!
TUNAY NA REPORMA SA LUPA, IPAGLABAN!
MILITAR SA KANAYUNAN, PALAYASIN!
UPHOLD THE INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW!
PAG-ARALAN ANG LIPUNAN!
