Life has a way of forcing us to pause and reset. In 2024, I had a major wake-up call—a cardiac arrest that changed everything. Before that, I was doing everything—working too much, stressing too much, running on empty until I finally burned out.
That moment made me stop and ask myself: What really matters?
In the months that followed, I focused on healing—physically, mentally, and spiritually. I went back to reading the Bible every day, strengthening my faith, and trying to understand what God wanted me to do. And little by little, I found clarity. I found the strength to rebuild—not just my health, but my business, my purpose.
When I finally went to renew Icon, the name wasn’t available anymore. The only option was IKON Business Services. At first, it felt like just a small change, but then I realized—it was exactly the right one. IKON means more than just influence; a quick internet search also refers to a sacred image, like a painting of Jesus Christ. And that resonated deeply.
This journey has reminded me that my real passion isn’t just about training or coaching—it’s about helping people become the best version of themselves. Stronger leaders. Better communicators. More confident individuals. And through that, we help others too. That’s how we fulfill our purpose.
And now at almost 2 decades in the business... here’s to a fresh start—with more focus, more meaning, and a name that reflects the mission I truly believe in. IKON Image and Training is here, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

💼 The Hiring Dilemma: Greenhorns or Old Hands? 🤔
Have you heard of the First Quarter Storm? 🌩️ The first quarter of the year is often a nightmare for recruiters and managers because it’s a trend for people to file resignations and seek new jobs at the start of the year. It’s a storm of transitions, making hiring even more challenging.
As someone who has hired and interviewed hundreds of applicants as an HR professional, this has been my observation. And now, as a training consultant, here’s my perspective:
Hiring today feels like walking a tightrope. On one side, we have greenhorns—tech-savvy, eager to learn, but often demanding high salaries with little experience. They’re quick to adapt but can also be fickle, jumping ship without loyalty.
On the other side, there are old hands—a wealth of experience, tenure, and stability, but sometimes slower with tech and occasionally stuck in outdated habits picked up over years of work.
So, how do we deal with this dilemma? The truth is, it’s not about choosing one over the other. It all boils down to leadership.
Some hiring managers dream of a “plug-and-play” approach—hiring someone who fits perfectly from day one. But people are not gadgets. They’re not pre-programmed for perfection. People need mentoring, communication, and relationships to thrive.
The real magic happens when leaders invest in their team:

When I was a kid, I had so many dream jobs: marine biologist, professional dancer, European tour guide, doctor, teacher. My imagination ran wild, picturing myself thriving in each of these roles. Now, as a training consultant, I realize I’ve come full circle—teaching is at the heart of what I do, and it feels like my dream job.
But here’s the thing: many of us hop from one role to the next, chasing the elusive “dream job.” We say we’re looking for something that will make us happy, something that feels just right.
What I’ve learned is this: a dream job isn’t always something you find. Sometimes, it’s something you create. By giving your work a deeper sense of purpose, aligning it with your values, and putting your heart into it, you can make any role meaningful.
