Oops!

I forgot that that there was a Q&A question in my Zoom Class on Interpretable Machine Learning! It's just 1 question, so here is my answer:

Anonymous:
Isn't it better to use Multiple Imputation by Chained Equations (MICE) vs k-Nearest Neighbors Imputation?

My answer:
MICE is good when you have multiple features and more computing time.
K Nearest Neighbour is a quick and easy approach when you have fewer (e.g., only 1) features.

Controversial Take:

If you search for any definition of statistics from different credible sources, you will generally find the following:

Statistics is a field of science concerned with the collection, organization, presentation, analysis, and interpretation of data. (Almeda, Capistrano, and Sarte 2009)

Statistics is the science of collecting, displaying, and analyzing data. (Upton and Cook 2008)

Statistics is a mathematical and conceptual discipline that focuses on the relation between data and hypotheses. (Romijn 2014)

Essentially, statistics is the science that deals about data.

We may say that statistics is the OG data science.

I requested for the following:

Stat 280 (Special Topics in Statistics: Forecasting Analytics for Data Science)
DS 397 (Special Topics in Data Science: Interpretable Machine Learning)

Congratulations to Shanjid Abduhalim for presenting his special problem proposal on "Intervention Time Series Analysis and Forecasting Model for the Passenger Arrivals and Departures in Major Airports in the Philippines"!

We thank the panel members, Assoc Prof Genelyn Ma Sarte and Asst Prof Jetrei Benito for the insightful and constructive comments and suggestions for further development of the proposal. Their guidance adds dimensions that we can investigate in this timely research question as we assess the recovery of the Philippine air travel volumes from the pandemic and other factors affecting air travel in country.
