The Department of Environmental Science joins the global celebration of World Environment Day. 🌏

More than a celebration, this is a reminder that climate action cannot wait. This year’s global campaign, , calls on all of us to step in and steer a world already in motion.

As environmental stewards, may we continue turning knowledge into action, and action into impact. The time to act is now. 🌱

One of the key highlights of the department this May was the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐒𝐂 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 last May 4, which also officially opened this year's SOSE Week!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the talk on 𝑺𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑮𝒂𝒔, 𝑩𝒊𝒈 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒚. We are especially grateful to our keynote speaker, Dr. Riel Carlo Ingeniero for sharing his time, knowledge, and expertise with us.

Thank you as well to our student presenters, and congratulations on your meaningful research contributions and insightful presentations!

And of course, thank you to the SC Johnson Environmental Leadership Fund for supporting this annual event and helping make spaces like this possible.

This event was co-organized by the ADMU School of Science and Engineering, Ateneo Research Institute of Science and Engineering- ARISE, and Ateneo Environmental Science Society.

Congratulations to our 2026 Program Awardee, Hxyll N. Almonguera! 👏💙🌳

Hxyll served as the Scholar Sector Representative of the University and as Commissioner of the Commission of Ateneans for Indigenous Peoples of the Sanggunian, showing his strong commitment to advocating for and working alongside indigenous peoples and their communities.

Even while balancing leadership, advocacy, and extracurricular commitments, he has continued to excel academically, earning the distinction of graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Hxyll was also a scholar under the Fr. Bienvenido F. Nebres SJ Academic Scholarship, DOST Scholarship, and Real LIFE Foundation Scholarship throughout his academic journey.

Congratulations, Hxyll! We are proud to celebrate your achievements and all the ways you continue to make the ES Department proud. 🌱
