🌏 Earthquakes always happen without warning, and they can cause many lives to get hurt. However, if you're prepared and know what to do, you can stay safe even during an earthquake!

-Drop, Cover, and Hold On under sturdy furniture to stay safe from falling debris
-Stay away from windows, mirrors, and anything that can easily break to avoid shattered glass from harming you
-Move to a designated safe area when possible and stay away from buildings, trees, and power lines
-If someone is hurt or trapped, call emergency services immediately

Being prepared is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones! Stay calm, stay alert, and stay ready.

🌧️ Are you living in a flood-prone area of Loyola Grand Villas?
Based on data that we have gathered from Project NOAH in our disaster risk research, there are a few areas and streets closer to the Marikina River, such as Monaco Street, Nova Scotia Street, and Brazil Street, which are at risk of experiencing floods during the rainy season and typhoons.

Always remember to be aware of the hazards that can affect your home by:
✅ Checking the map above to check if your home or area is at risk of experiencing a flood.
✅ Preparing your emergency kits, reviewing evacuation routes, and try to minimize hazards involving electricity, and proceed to higher ground if necessary.

Floods can occur suddenly — preparation can save lives.

There are various parts in Loyola Grand Villas (LGV) which are close to the Marikina River and subject to severe flooding, particularly with intense typhoons and heavy rains. In order to adopt the best practice in disaster preparation, the following are essential measures that each resident must do:

- Identify Evacuation Routes: Know the shortest and safest routes to evacuation areas.

- Emergency Kits: Have an emergency kit that contains the basic needs such as water, food, medications, and first aid materials.

- Go to Higher Ground: When the flooding starts, evacuate as soon as possible to higher grounds.

- Switch Off Appliances: Switch off all of your electrical appliances, and cover electrical outlets to avoid accidents as electric water-induced hazards before evacuating.

- Look for Structural Hazards: Prior to flood season, check your house for cracks in foundations, ceilings, and walls that could compromise under heavy rainwater and pressure.

🛍️ LGV residents are reminded to prepare their personal emergency kits ahead of possible disasters. Each kit should include water, canned food, a flashlight, first aid supplies, extra batteries, and important documents.

Some areas in LGV, especially those near the Marikina River, at at risk of experiencing floods due to heavy rains and typhoons.

Here’s how you can stay safe and prepared during these times:
- Know your evacuation routes ahead of time and coordinate with your family🚶‍♂️
- Prepare an emergency kit with water, food, energy bars, medicines, and other essentials such as a flashlight and whistle🛍️
- Look and head to higher ground immediately if there is a chance of a flood occurring in your area 🏞️
- Turn off your electricity, cover electrical plugs, and unplug all electrical appliances to avoid any accidents ⚡

Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable family members like children and the elderly.

⚠️ There are many hazards in LGV that we should be aware of and should try to fix.
According to our disaster risk research using HazardHunterPH and Project NOAH, LGV is at risk for major disasters due to these factors:

Strong earthquakes such as "The Big One" due to its proximity to the nearby West Valley Fault
High risk of flooding for areas near the Marikina River
Falling trees or tree branches due to strong winds during rainy seasons
Loose electrical wiring getting caught up in tree branches due to strong winds
Limited open safe spaces for evacuation during emergencies

Being aware of these risks helps us plan better and protect our community. Stay informed, stay prepared, and help build a safer LGV for all. 🛡️🏡
