Pardon my selfies... can't resist to try the Saori handweaving crafts of the students of St. Francis School-VSA Arts Philippines.
Saori is Japanese word for weaving. It propagates handweaving as therapeutic activity for children with disabilities.
You wouldn't believe the crafts to be made by these kids until you see them weaving by themselves!
Coming soon at St. Francis School is Saori Urban Handweaving Center in partnership with Saori Japan and DOST NCR PTRI

Summer Saori weaving training with students of St. Francis School and people with disabilities. Graduation will be on May 4 to coincide with the launch of Basic Handloom Weaving training of Saori VSA ng Pilipinas in partnership with DOST- PTRI (Phil. Textile Research Institute).
SAORI weaving intervention provides the youth and adults with artistic outlets that strengthen independent living skills and support professional opportunities.

Certification ceremony will be on May 4 to coincide with the turnover ceremony (and transfer of technology) of 10 PTRI (Phil. Textile Research Institute) developed handlooms to St. Francis, making the school the first center of its kind in the region.
