A senator ran up the stairs. Two days later, gunshots rang out in the Senate building. Everyone was on lockdown. Then politicians went live online. What does it feel like to watch all of this unfold online?

On TikTok, citizens shared not just videos, but also emotions. Some expressed anger, others hope, and many a collective urgency for action.

John Rovic L. Catangay of the UP College of Social Sciences and Philosophy explored this construction of emotions, particularly hope. He argued that some movements begin not with rigid ideology, but with a shared feeling capable of challenging the status quo. 📱
