"The Spirit of truth will testify to me, says the Lord; and you also will testify."

When we read these words of Christ on Father’s Day, we are invited to look at fatherhood through the lens of a holy witness. To "testify" is to bear witness to the truth—not just with our words, but with the very shape of our lives.

For many of us, our fathers or father figures were the first to testify to the nature of God's love. They rarely do this through grand theological speeches; rather, they bear witness through the quiet, steady drumbeat of daily sacrifice. A father testifies to the truth when he leads his family with integrity, when he shows patience in moments of frustration, and when he provides a safe harbor in times of storm. His gentle strength, forgiveness, and steadfast presence become a living reflection of our Heavenly Father.

The Spirit of Truth guides fathers in this immense vocation, giving them the wisdom to guide their children, the courage to protect them, and the humility to ask for forgiveness when they fall short.
