📢 NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES | Friday, August 7, 2026

In support of the recommendation of the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (QCDRRMC) and the appeal of the Local Government of Quezon City (LGU) to private schools, Fairview Baptist Academy, Inc. (FBA) will implement the suspension of all face-to-face classes today, Friday, August 7, 2026, due to the expected adverse weather conditions brought about by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and the PAGASA Yellow Heavy Rainfall Advisory.
In place of face-to-face classes, Asynchronous Classes will be conducted. Learning tasks will be provided by the teachers and posted in Google Chat. All students are expected to complete and submit their assigned tasks within the prescribed deadline.

🚨📚 BAKIT MAS HIRAP ANG MGA BATA SA FILIPINO KAYSA SA ENGLISH? Ang Lumalalang Reading Crisis sa Pilipinas 🇵🇭📉

📝 BAKIT NGA BA PABABA NANG PABABA ANG READING PERFORMANCE NG MGA BATA SA FILIPINO KUMPARA SA ENGLISH?📉🇵🇭🇬🇧

Madalas nating itanong: "Ang daling basahin ng Filipino dahil phonetic ito, pero bakit hirap na hirap ang mga bata na intindihin ang diwa ng binabasa nila kumpara sa Ingles?"

Ang pambansang krisis na ito ay tahasang binigyang-diin sa pinakabagong ulat ng EDCOM 2. Ayon sa kanilang pagsusuri sa pambansang assessments ng DepEd (gaya ng Phil-IRI at CRLA), nararanasan natin ang isang "proficiency collapse".
Bagamat may bahagyang pag-unlad ang mga bata sa word decoding sa unang mga baitang, pagdating sa malalim na pag-unawa (critical at inferential comprehension), marami ang naiiwan. Sa katunayan, ayon sa ulat:

1 sa bawat 2 mag-aaral (50%) ang nananatiling mababa sa kanilang grade-level reading proficiency.
Sa mga mas mataas na baitang (Grades 7 to 10), marami pa rin ang nasa Frustration Level (58.9%) —ibig sabihin, hindi nila kayang magbasa at umunawa ng grade-level texts nang mag-isa.

Ang masakit na reyalidad: ang kakulanga
ng ito sa literasiya sa elementarya ay nagiging 5.5-year learning gap pagtapak ng bata sa edad na 15.

Bakit mas ramdam ang hirap na ito sa wikang Filipino kumpara sa English? Narito ang apat na pangunahing sanhi:

🔍 ANG MGA SANHI NG SULIRANIN:
1. Digital Shift & Media Exposure: Mas exposed ang mga bata sa digital content (YouTube, TikTok, mobile games) na purong Ingles. Mas mabilis lumawak ang kanilang receptive vocabulary sa English kaysa sa Filipino.
2. Kolokyal vs. Akademikong Filipino: Ang pormal na Filipino sa mga textbook (tulad ng subalit, datapwat, nag-atubili) ay parang banyagang wika na sa kanila dahil hindi ito ang wikang naririnig nila sa kalsada o sa bahay.
3. Kumplikadong Balarila (Grammar): Napakayaman at kumplikado ng morpolohiya ng Filipino. Ang pagpapalit ng mga panlapi (mag-, um-, -in-, nag-) ay nangangailangan ng mas matinding mental processing para sa batang mas sanay sa simpleng estruktura ng English.
4. Kakulangan sa "High-Interest" Materials: Kinumpirma ng EDCOM 2 na malaking salik ang kakulangan sa mga de-kalidad at kaakit-akit na learning resources. Mas maraming nakakaaliw na storybooks sa English kumpara sa mabibigat na babasahin sa Filipino.
Hindi kayang mag-isa ng paaralan ang laban na ito. Upang mabago ang takbo ng ating edukasyon, kailangan ng matibay na tulungan sa tahanan at silid-aralan! 🤝
💡 MGA TIPS PARA SA MGA MAGULANG AT TUMATAYONG MGA MAGULANG (SA TAHANAN):
Maglaan ng "Filipino Storytime": Ugaliing magbasa ng mga kwentong Filipino bago matulog. Kung may malalim na salita, ipaliwanag ito gamit ang simpleng halimbawa.
I-balanse ang Media Diet: Ipanood din sila ng mga de-kalidad na programang nasa wikang Filipino o mga localized educational videos.
Ibalik ang Kwentuhan sa Hapag-kainan: Sanayin ang mga bata na magkwento ng kanilang karanasan gamit ang buong pangungusap sa Filipino, hindi lang pira-pirasong salita o Taglish.

💡 MGA TIPS PARA SA MGA G**O (SA PAARALAN):
✅️Gamitin ang Contextualized Materials: Bumuo o gumamit ng mga localized reading booklets na nakabatay sa totoong karanasan ng mga bata para mas madaling ma-relate ang mga salita sa kanilang kultura.
✅️Gawing Interactive ang Bokabularyo: Bago magpabasa, magkaroon ng "Word of the Day" o "Vocabulary Word Hunt" kung saan isasagawa ang pag-arte o pagguhit sa kahulugan ng malalalim na salitang Filipino.
✅️ Huwag lang Tumingin sa "Word Recognition" (Speed): Lumampas tayo sa pagpapabasa nang mabilis. Mas bigyang-diin ang pagtatanong ng mga Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) pagkatapos magbasa (Hal. "Ano sa tingin mo ang naramdaman ng tauhan?" o "Kung ikaw ang nasa kwento, ano ang gagawin mo?").
✅️Ang pagbasa ay hindi lang pagbigkas ng mga titik—ito ay pag-unawa sa diwa, kultura, at kinabukasan ng ating bansa. Pagyamanin natin ang pagmamahal ng mga bata sa sarili nating wika! ❤️✏️
