𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒:

The Public Speaking Training Series held its last training session online on 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟕, with 𝙈𝙨. 𝙇𝙮𝙣𝙙𝙖 𝙂𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙞𝙖 moderating the session. Her expertise and valuable insights helped the participants gain further knowledge and confidence.

Her emphasis on 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨 made the participants aware of the significance of preparing themselves physically when speaking in public. She also highlighted 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙚𝙘𝙝, 𝙖𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜.

The 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟔 training session of the Public Speaking Training series provided participants with an opportunity to apply what they had learned in previous sessions by 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙨.

The session was moderated by 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝘾 𝘿𝙚𝙗𝙎𝙤𝙘 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨, who offered𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 to the participants. Once again, the session further equipped the participants with the skills necessary for their culminating activity in May.

𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

After Round 3 ended, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞, 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐃𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐨 presented all the teams' collective scores throughout the rounds. Eventually, it led to the teams of 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 (𝐆𝐃) and 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲/𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 (𝐈𝐃𝐈𝐒/𝐈𝐒) on the road to the Finals round.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, specifically with the context of being a student leader at Miriam College. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐀𝐒𝐄 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. Although only one had to prevail. During the Awarding Ceremony, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥, 𝐌𝐱. 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐔𝐏 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫: 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐌 𝐈𝐃𝐈𝐒/𝐈𝐒! 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒!

Entering the Awarding and Closing Ceremony. 𝐌𝐂 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐒𝐨𝐜'𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐣 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨, gave his remarks appreciating all members of the Dean's Cup OrgComm and MC Debsoc who made this competition posible, stating that the Dean's Cup will remain a legacy onto the future and for even more teams to compete.

The sponsors of the Dean's Cup, 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬, 𝐌𝐑𝐀𝐒 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐜. were also recognized for their unwavering support anr tremendous assistance in making Dean's Cup a reality.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟓 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 were awared based on their ranking. These are the debaters who have the highest scores through all the rounds, and have proven their outstanding skill in debating.

As the Dean's Cup 2026 drew to a close, 𝐌𝐂 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐒𝐨𝐜'𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐀𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐬𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐬 gave an endearing speech thanking all debaters, adjudicators and all members who supported behind the scenes. She remarked that all of the time, energy and effort everyone has spent made the event not only worth it, but memorable and incredible.

On April 13, 2026, teams are back face-to-face entering Round 3 of the Preliminary Rounds Stage of Dean’s Cup 2026.

With a fiery theme of 𝐏𝐨𝐩 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬, teams had to combine the vivacious pop culture with the steely technicality of politics.

After both match-ups debated on the motion:

It is clear that 1 team will win over the other, this led to the decision of the adjudicators with an 𝐈𝐃𝐈𝐒/𝐈𝐒 𝐖𝐢𝐧 and a 𝐓𝐌 𝐖𝐢𝐧 in both of the match-ups respectively.

𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 officially opened with kur host setting the stage, followed by opening remarks from 𝘋𝘦𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘋𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘯𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘰.

𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁, first introduced the Miriam College Debate Society—presenting its vision, introducing its current officers and debate core team, recognizing the people behind this year's tournament.

Followed by the 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗔𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗷𝗮𝘀, who highlighted the organization’s achievements, and formally introduced introduced DEAN'S CUP 2026 – its purpose and the milestones that brought it to life. Together with the rest of the core team – alongside 𝘋𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘯𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘰, 𝘕𝘦𝘭𝘢 𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘯, 𝘝𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘹𝘪𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘢, 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳– the session transitioned into an orientation equipping our debaters with key insights before motions were released.

The day continued with participants from 𝗕𝗦 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗕𝗔 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆, 𝗕𝗔 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗔 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, alongside our adjudicators from 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 and 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆.

Round 1 set the stage with motions that challenged the boundaries of policy, ethics, and responsibility – questioning the role of 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆.

Round 2 pushed the conversation further:
𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙗𝙪𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 and whether 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀.
