|| Redefining leadership: QCAFI holds two-day leadership seminar to prepare aspiring student leaders for SY.2026-2027

Quezon City Academy Foundation, Inc. (QCAFI), through its Commission on Elections (COMELEC), conducted a two-day Summer Leadership Training and Seminar on June 8–9, 2026, aimed at orienting students on leadership responsibilities and preparing them for the upcoming school year.

The program was spearheaded by newly appointed COMELEC Adviser Ms. Raychelle Ann Gallo and was conducted under the guidance of former COMELEC Adviser Ms. Judy Ann Doria and Principal and Central Student Government (CSG) Adviser Ms. Merlyn M. Eligio.

The seminar featured seven sessions covering various aspects of student leadership, governance, discipline, and academic responsibility.

The first session was delivered by Principal Eligio, who discussed leadership development and emphasized that leadership skills can be cultivated through continuous learning and experience.

This was followed by a discussion from Grade 9 Coordinator Ms. Judy Ann Doria on the Co- and Extracurricular Activities (CECA) point system and its role in student participation.

QCAFI alumna Ms. Mycah Rizzel T. Morada, a graduate of the 2025–2026 ABM-HUMSS strand, shared her experiences as a student leader during her years in the academy. Another alumna, Ms. Angel Victoria L. Catiis, also from the ABM-HUMSS strand, discussed the relationship between leadership and discipline.

Question-and-answer portions were conducted after each seminar to allow participants to raise concerns and seek clarification on the topics discussed. Interactive activities were also integrated into the program to complement the lectures.

On the second day, former COMELEC Chairperson and QCAFI alumna Ms. Leanne Jewel Paguigan of 12-STEM A presented the guidelines and requirements for students intending to run for positions in the Local Government Unit (LGU) and Central Student Government (CSG).

Ms. Gallo then conducted a session in which she shared her experiences as a student leader and discussed the responsibilities and challenges associated with balancing leadership duties and academic commitments.

The final seminar was delivered by Mr. Renz Joshua Gudaca, valedictorian of the Class of 2026. He discussed time management strategies and ways to balance academic requirements with organizational responsibilities while avoiding burnout and procrastination.

In an interview, Ms. Gallo expressed enthusiasm about her appointment as COMELEC adviser, describing it as an opportunity to share her experiences in student leadership and promote voter awareness among students.

“I am also excited about what more I can do and contribute, not only to student leaders but also to the entire student body,” she said.

Gallo also emphasized the importance of responsible leadership, noting that leadership involves service and commitment rather than personal recognition.

When asked about her expectations for student leaders in the upcoming school year, she said she hopes they will remain committed to serving the student body and work toward implementing programs that benefit both students and the school community.

She also encouraged students to follow school policies and to communicate their concerns and suggestions through constructive dialogue, allowing student leaders and school administrators to address issues effectively.
