BCP Kalasag Seniors Team Makes History: A Journey Five Years in the Making

The entire Bestlink College of the Philippines (BCP) community is celebrating a historic milestone as the BCP Kalasag Seniors Team and Women's Team have both earned their spots in the Finals of the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) Season 32.

This achievement is more than just a victoryโ€”it is the realization of a dream that began five years ago.

The journey started with a simple vision: to become part of one of the country's most respected collegiate basketball leagues. Despite being a newcomer and facing established colleges and universities with long-standing athletic traditions, BCP courageously entered the NCRAA five years ago under the leadership and support of BCP Vice President for Administration and Finance, Engr. Doni Lleno, who also oversees the institution's Sports Development Program. Supporting this vision were Dr. Ryan Ignacio, who served as Sports Consultant, and former team coach Coach Edwin Punio. Together, they laid the foundation of the BCP Kalasag Basketball Program, helping build a culture of discipline, resilience, and excellence that would eventually lead the team to this historic achievement.

The road was far from easy.

During the early years, the team experienced growing pains. Wins were difficult to come by, and every game presented a new challenge. Yet the BCP Kalasag players never allowed defeats to define them. Instead, they treated every setback as an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow stronger. Every loss became a lesson, every challenge became motivation, and every season brought them one step closer to their goal.

This Season 32 marked a turning point.

With a carefully assembled roster of talented and determined players, Coach Jerich Elijah Felipe, together with Assistant Coaches Neil Titus Carpio and Louis Bontia, worked tirelessly to transform the team into a competitive force. Behind every training session, every game plan, and every hard-fought victory was a group of young athletes willing to sacrifice, persevere, and commit themselves to a common goalโ€”to bring pride and honor to the BCP community.

Their journey was made even more meaningful through the unwavering support and belief of Engr. Doni Lleno and Dr. Ryan Ignacio, who continuously championed the team's development and never stopped investing in their potential. Even during challenging times, they remained steadfast in their commitment to the program, inspiring the players to believe in themselves and pursue greatness. Equally invaluable was the support of the team's generous sponsors and partners, whose trust in this new generation of BCP Kalasag athletes provided the resources, encouragement, and motivation needed to compete at the highest level. Together, they formed a strong support system that empowered the team to dream bigger, work harder, and prove that determination, unity, and faith can turn aspirations into reality.

Through countless hours of training, sacrifices, and relentless dedication, the players remained united by one missionโ€”to make history and elevate the BCP Kalasag name to greater heights. Today, their journey stands as a testament to what can be achieved when talented athletes, committed leaders, and passionate supporters come together in pursuit of a shared dream.

Their perseverance paid off on May 29 at the court of De La Salle Dasmariรฑas in Cavite. In a thrilling and hard-fought semifinal showdown, the BCP Kalasag Seniors Team defeated AIMS with a final score of 69โ€“64. Leading the charge was Player #26, Errol Rojas, who was named Best Player of the Game for his outstanding performance and leadership on the court.

With that victory, BCP Kalasag achieved something that had never been accomplished beforeโ€”the team's first-ever Finals appearance in NCRAA history.

This remarkable achievement stands as proof that dreams can be achieved through hard work, discipline, perseverance, and unwavering faith in one another. What once seemed distant is now within reach. The sacrifices, struggles, and years of dedication have finally begun to bear fruit.

To our BCP Kalasag Seniors Team, the entire Bestlink community is incredibly proud of your determination, sportsmanship, and commitment to excellence. You have inspired countless students, alumni, faculty members, and supporters through your journey.

As you prepare for the biggest game in your history, remember that you do not stand alone. Behind you stands the entire BCP Familyโ€”cheering, believing, and proudly supporting every step of your journey.

The mission is not yet over.

The dream continues.

And now, history awaits.
